I brought the linux command line with me today. Using a Vultr instance to experiment etc.

apparently bash is an acronym for bourne again shell which is a reference to Steve Bourne who wrote the original unix shell program. didn't know that. there are a lot of interesting historical references in this book.

Yup, that's correct. The original Bourne Shell is what we call "shell" or is called sh at the command prompt. And the Korn Shell is not a silly name to rhyme with Bourne, it was actually a guy named Korn by coincidence.

konsoleorgnome-terminaland a virtual terminal process running behind your GUI that you can access with CTRL+ALT+F1-F6? I never use a GUI so I don't have one installed currently. -

Both are accessing a TTY device.

If you have WINS servers (don't ask) in a modern environment, do the WINS servers automatically override modern DNS (which would take care of defining what the DNS servers are itself)?

No choice. I'm just wondering how that resolves. WINS seems to override.

I haven't had a cup of coffee in two months. I'm studying today so I figured it would benefit me. My brain feels completely super powered after a large coffee from Dunkin. What a crazy feeling.
