I left you VM for below position. It’s remote position with some travel to xxx,TX. Are you interested to apply?- very strong Vmware, windows, and linux resource administrator I think we need a higher level person who's a bit more independent because my team members won't have lots of time for training on this project. I want candidates that are a more at the engineer level and can handle projects, solo work, and create solutions. We prefer candidates that are a bit more talkative and take ownership of their work. Perform day-to-day Systems Administration and support for environment of 1,000+ systems for the DIRECTV account Support related project and change activity including: systems builds, OS installs and configurations, vSphere and OS upgrades and storage vmotions Participate and represent team in relevant meetings Adhere to implemented ITIL related and operational processes Participate in oncall rotation (every 6-7 weeks) Provide afterhours support and troubleshooting as required Apply advanced technical knowledge to operate one or more technology areas (e.g. server administration, technical security management, performance management) or customer groups that are critical or high-risk. Integrate technical knowledge and business understanding to create superior solutions for Client and for customers. Incident Management: Resolve single- and cross technology incidents independently. Work with team members to resolve unusually complex or cross technology incidents. Escalation Management: identify, manage, and lead escalations through L3. Work with others to help manage escalations through L5. Problem Management: Proactively and reactively look for solutions to prevent problems from occurring in team/technology area. Change Management/Implementation: Independently review, implement, and verify changes/solutions of high complexity and risk to meet customer and/or trade/Client Information Technology (HPIT) infrastructure needs. May lead or participate in a Change Advisory Board. Patch and Security Management: Apply patch and security changes per policy. Proactively monitor the environment for patch compliance. Analyze patches for compatibility with each customer or internal infrastructure environment. Configuration Management: Ensure Configuration Management Database (CMDB) entries are complete and accurate. Solution Design: Apply Client solutions to meet highly complex customer and/or trade/HPIT infrastructure needs. Quality: May provide feedback/influence change in internal and/or vendor-provided products/service offerings. Project Management: Participate, propose, and/or lead customer and internal projects across technology customers and/or internal businesses/end users areas, including transformation. Customer Relationship Management: Influence with customers and/or internal businesses/end users regarding operational details, solutions, and proposals. Becoming a trusted advisor to the customer. Teamwork: Work as part of a team, which may be virtual, global, and/or multi-functional. Lead teams which address operational processes and policies in work area. Seen as a resource to the team in one or more technical or business areas. Becoming a trusted advisor inside and outside the team/technology area. Typically advises or sets direction for: Education and Experience Required: 5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (8+ years in total). Preference given to individuals with relevant certifications for their major technological skillsets (Microsoft, VMWare, Linux, etc.). Knowledge and Skills Required: Typical skills include: 5+ years of Systems Administration experience involving Windows 2003 and 2008 platforms 3-5 years of experience with vSphere versions 4.x and 5.x; migration experience a plus Support experience with both physical and virtual systems Hardware experience with blade technology Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to be individually responsible for the design and scope of deliverables within the windows server enterprise field. Has mastered at least one technical discipline with strong knowledge in at least three major technology areas. Those area, in order of preference are Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Linux, Storage (NAS/SAN), Security, Networking, Anti-virus products, MS RDP and MS Exchange. Knowledge and experience of vSphere versions 4.x and 5.x, and migrations, a plus Has ability to perform/drive resolution of problems on combinations and interactions of products. Ability to apply technical experience and analytical skills to resolve problems. Able to communicate and present complex issues with assurance and confidence. Demonstrates the use of consulting skills including: questioning, listening, ideas development, permission and rapport, and influencing. Ability to conduct/lead oral status/technical communications with client. Ability to translate technical details into concise and easy to understand written form. Ability to translate verbal requirements from client meetings into requirements documents, statements of work, and proposals. Able to discuss (within own area of expertise) requirements with a customer, and to challenge and clarify when appropriate. From the requirements, able to develop a high level design or plan, and then estimate the amount of effort required to deliver. Able to advise the engagement owner about the risks associated with this work package. Ability to work with a team to provide written responses to technical proposals and /or reports/documentation for delivery. Ability to support technical projects related to Windows infrastructure upgrades, firmware updates and architectural design changes. Participate in team on call rotation. Work well in a technical team environment. -----------

We got the worst of ours sorted out with hand-me-down switches hehe. It's not a difficult project, mostly just preparation. Can be a nice opportunity to audit vlans and clean up old junk. Make sure you upgrade firmware etc.

No work on Monday, now this dude is sick and I had to reschedule the keyboard replacement until Thursday. Bet he'll use THAT against me too.
