I normally get a number 8 (three tacos and a drink) and I think that is $4.90 or so...And while this is a pretty reasonably priced lunch, the food is crap nutrition wise.
See I actually read the nutrition labels and make decisions from there I check the calories and protein levels. It's actually pretty good the way that I do it, other than the high salt levels.

Short of packing your own meals - it's pretty expensive to eat decent food for any meal under $9 in a restaurant.....

I did too. I changed it. That's like saying fast food is bad because I only go to Burger King. So, go to Taco Bell. See, problem solved

huh - I'll have to look at the TB nutrition chart - I find it hard to believe that their products have much health value, but I could just be completely off base.

Why not? Beans are one of the healthiest things ever. Given that it is basically a "smooshed bean wrap" restaurant, it's fairly hard not to have a bit of nutritional value. If you were to describe their food as "beans, avocado and sometimes rice in a wrap" it would sound like a health food place, right?

Sure, if you only eat the bean burritos - which I never eat, nor does anyone else I know who eats there, well perhaps save for you.

Well lots of people that I know, including people who work there. Taco Bell is THE vegetarian fast food place. They do bean substitution for any item too. Super health / vegetarian friendly.
Every restaurant will cater to people wanting unhealthy food. Taco Bell offers a huge range of healthy, super cheap, vegetarian friendly fare though, which is rare.

"Taco Bell" is, connotatively, diametrically opposed to "healthy".
