OK, I understand, but why do you need to do that? You connect to public SIP accounts without the provider whitelisting your IP. You also connect to web servers without whitelisting. What's different with the PBX?

It's just another layer of protection.
The built in firewall on FreePBX for example will allow successful logons, but after x number of failed ones, it bans invalid attempts. Sometimes weird things happen and users can find themselves banned. By whitelisting you remove that potential.

So I am using FreePBX in this case. If the FreePBX responsive firewall would work properly, this would be a non issue. BUT, it frequently bans people. Randomly so it seems. The only sure fire way to have them stay connected is to whitelist their IP.

I use afraid.org, but if I remember correctly, that is updated via my Edgerouter. Their site looks like they have some Windows clients as well. Not very nice looking clients, but clients.

I did use afraid.org with a windows client in the past - the three times I tried, I still had issues with FreePBX - so I just added my IP and was solved.... luckily Unlike JB, I don't travel all over trying to log into my servers, so I don't need DYN DNS to work.

I like https://www.duckdns.org/
It has client for a lot of different system as It's really easy to implement.

I wrote this a long time ago. It was to run on my EdgeRouter but I also mention how you can use it with another internal device.
