This morning was my first day back to the gym after about 2 weeks off. My Dad was here visiting last week and this week I was too tired in the mornings and just couldn't get myself out of bed early enough.
But today I managed to creep out of bed to give me enough time at the gym to do at least one muscle group (3 different weight training exercises) and 10 minutes of cardio.
All I have to say is wow, what a difference I'm feeling now. I feel like a completely different person now going in to and starting the day.
I think even if I'm a bit tired, i'm still going to force myself out of bed (within reason).

I'm hoping tomorrow I can return to exercising. I managed to injure my knee on last Saturday, and I'm almost back to being pain free :).

Push through the pain! No dedication at all haha! Hop, one leg can suffice!

There's still things you can do that doesn't require knees, or is very easy on the knees... like the elliptical trainer or swimming for cardio, and weight training upper body like biceps/triceps/chest/etc. But if your knees are bad enough probably better to fully rest.

ee if I could do it. I'm not ready to jog a mile regularly, but I'm happy to know it's not an impossibility, as a month ago it was.
Sounds like a good way forward, I used to love interval training when it was easier... after gaining a lot of weight both parts of the interval training are hard. Keep at it. Any other tips?

True. I also had a shoulder injury that got to the pain-free state yesterday, so my plan tonight was to do some upper body work. Tomorrow I should be able to do some walking again.

One of the biggest things I've done to just stay lean is avoid eating bread. There is so little value there in bread that it's not worth the empty calories/sugar.
I've also stop consuming milk and limited my sugar intake but nothing drastic to the point where I'm constantly asking about what ingredients are in a meal etc.
Just no milk / sugar in coffee, no toast or bagels etc.

That's great. I think breads are one of the hardest things to kick out of your diet. That's a major step if you've done that.
Milk is the easiest for me, i can't stand dairy. Cheese sometimes, because it tastes good, but everything else, yuck.

I said nothing about cheese. . . cheese is amazing and I can't imagine not having that in my life. But it's also not something we eat regularly so it's not readily available.

Was really stressed lately and so I fell off the diet. My wife was under stress as well so she fell off with me. I went to weigh myself and wow, I still lost three pounds! I didn't tell my wife. She asked me "how much did you gain?" I avoided the question. She then kept pestering me. So finally I said, I lost three pounds. At which point she just turned around grabbed her stuff for work and promptly flipped me off and left.

And then you <insert some act> with her sister for revenge right?

Just started back working out this week. Going the early morning route after watching some motivational stuff online about waking up earlier. Gotta get past all the initial soreness again.

That's how I do it, trying to get there around 5:30am before work. I don't think I'd rather go any other time. It feels best to go then.

The last few months I have noticed that after sitting for a while (30 min), standing up and walking instantly hurts feet/legs for about 60 steps, then is fine... is this a concern or an age thing? Its not getting worse, just the same for the last few months and I put it down to generally being unhealthy... a concern? (question for all you old gits!) ha
