My conclusion about the Mandalorian: <ssnip> and has next to zero story or progression.
WTF? You want a TV series to be done in 1 episode? What would be the point of a series?
Get over the binge watching attitude of needing to see 10 hours of story at once.
That or wait until the season is over and then watch the fucking thing.
It may well turn out to be shit. But that is not what it looks like so far.
I'm probably in the minority. But so far the pacing of The Mandelorian has been pretty decent. It throws a ton of lore in there without going overboard, and gives you plenty of time during the show to digest what's going on.
It also, bizarrely, doesn't play the audience for stupid. Which is a nice change of pace.
And most of the actual lore is about the Mandalorians and the Bounty Hunters Guild so far.
Tidbits about the resistance in Episode 4 with Cara.
Obvious bits about the down and out Empire remnants driving the whole plot with the entire "The Child" thing seeming to be the over arching storyline. -

This has nothing to do with me wanting to binge the show. I actually like the pacing overall. I like having time to think about it and having the episodes be a separate thing. What I do want, that I haven't seen much of is for there to be some kind of advancement of someone's story. So far <spoiler> Mando has more armor and baby Yoda has joined him </spoiler> nothing else of significance has happened in either of their stories.

They had Timothy Zahn's best selling trilogy in hand and had to build a ramp, drive a JLG up and add a ladder to see past it. Sometimes....
This was the most frustrating thing about TFA.
"Every one of these movies is a particularly hard nut to crack. There’s no source material. We don’t have comic books. We don’t have 800-page novels. We don’t have anything other than passionate storytellers who get together and talk about what the next iteration might be."
im just gonna hop in here for a second :
There are Comic Books, and Novels for starwars. I own 4 different star wars book right now. and have read over 50 comics...
That's all i gotta say about it : carry on.

The Mandalorian betray his people the bounty hunter's guild and forced his people to have to go into hiding elsewhere is not a big development?

...You're missing the entire plot line of the Mando's coven now having to find a new home? The Mando betraying the guild? The Mando has grow significantly in 5 episodes.

No, because we have no idea why the Mandalorians are in hiding (from the context of the show, can't use EU because Kathleen Kennedy). Why are they on the same planet as the BHG?

I specifically called that out. Those mediums have barely ever been more than core fans really. I have probably 50+ EU books But I know i'm an exception to the norm. Most people only watch movies and TV.

We know of something called the Purge, it's talked about in the first episode. We know that Besskar was taken from the Mandelorians for use by the Empire.

Huh - I was totally expecting this post directed at me after I said it was slow, lol

if it were not sharing a timeframe with TLJ.
They have nothing to do with each other.
There is ~25 years between The Mandalorian and The Force Awakens. I believe The Last Jedi is within a year of The Force Awakens.Way less than a year, unless Finn was in a coma the whole time. I'm guessing a few weeks at best.
-
I get that @coliver and @JaredBusch think it is good. I'm happy for you. I am glad that they're going deeper into the lore and might be building a large story. My patience is very thin given TLJ and what it is, so I have been hoping that after nearly 2 hours of screen time that we would have something more than we do. Maybe my expectations of what this show is are wrong.

8? that's all - man, yeah, in three remaining episodes, they really need to turn a page, else this will get dull real fast! and I wonder how long until the next season comes out? I know they are filming season 2 already.. hopefully we don't have to wait a year!

Comics is likely the least taken in form of star wars - I'd say
Movies
TV shows (mainly cartoons)
video games
TV comercials
Toys
Books
comics

The 501st has been called in to do several things like this in the past.
it's also a big reason why Disney had the 501st march in their Star Wars Weekend parades for about 10 years for their Star Wars Weekends events... our costumes were actually better than most of the Disney ones for the same characters. Of course this was hugely beneficial to Dinsey at way below normal costs for something like this.
Each person who marched received 1-2 tickets (it started as two park hopper, then went to one park hopper, then down to a single ticket single park - cheap ass bastards). for this, the marchers had to arrive by 7 AM, wait around outside in the boiling sun - often with zero shade until 11:30 AM, then get suited up and stand around, again in the direct sun from 11:30 - 12:30 when the parade would start. So in the early days, people were getting around $200 worth of tickets for 5.5 hours of onsite time, not horrible pay for only 20 mins of actual work. But in the end, a single ticket worth around $100 cut that down a lot!
