@WrCombs I can't get rid of Netflix (don't have cable) but I probably will write them a sternly worded email. People are dumb enough already, no need for Netflix to help.
Why do you need netflix since you don't have cable? there are tons of other options out there.
I think Netflix just came out with something I wanted to watch recently.. so I'm likely going to keep it another month or two.. but I will likely kill it after that - at least for a while.
oh wait - maybe not.. I just remember - I now get it basically for free because I'm with T-Mobile.
Because Netflix runs America ? /Sarcasm.

I get that that's sarcasm (but only because you said so) - but I don't see how anyone anywhere thinks that, so I'm not sure where the comment really comes from?

Completely random thought.
netflix as a whole is huge with people in my age group.
If you don't have netflix then you're missing out on tv shows that everyone's watching? my age group basically grew up on netflix ever since out teen years , so it's normal? idk. -

Without cable, my choices are limited - Netflix, Prime, Hulu (which I despise, but I recently caved and let my gf log in to her friend's premium account so we could watch Letterkenny)... And I'm not dissatisfied with Netflix in general, no reason to ditch it. Tons of great stand-up comedy on there, plus other stuff I like. My point is that Goop/Paltrow provide TONS of irresponsibly bad info to idiots, so they should maybe step back and think about how that show will negatively impact the world before greenlighting it. But then again, part of me would love to see that show produce a wealth of Darwin awards for the idiots who follow her "health" advice, which would, ideally, end up with her being discredited as a human being and force the end of her "career".

Sure Netflix is probably highly rated among people in your age range, but meh - I have no clue if their originals appeal more to your age group or not.

Why does everyone hate Hulu so much?
It's the main network I watch these days (well, at least during normal fall/winter/spring TV season.
Summertime and breaks I'm watching re-runs on whatever network has the show I want.

I'm not in his age range, but youtube is basically the dumpster juice runoff of the internet. whereas Netflix actually posts things that someone who's past adolescence might actually want to see. Example - my gf's 14 year old son has youtube or tiktok shoved up his face 28 hours a day, 33 days a week. If the rest of us are watching something, he usually gets booted to the other room for being disruptive (cackling like an idiot, talking to the screen with headphones on, etc). That is youtube in a nutshell to me. The stupid leading the easily led automatons of the world. I occasionally use it to listen to music, but I still place it in the same boat as things like buzzfeed.

because hulu is so damn expensive for no ads, live tv, etc. I paid 55 a month for hulu + live tv and no commercials for 2 months.
Netflix is cheaper than hulu (only down side, is no live tv.) with no commercials.

Hulu - "pay us, and we will show you no ads. Wait, here's some ads, thanks for the money you dumbass."

it most certainly can be that.. But I have found Youtube to be a wealth of knowledge and worthwhile assistance.
I've watched a dozen plus laptop teardown videos to keep from breaking things when wanting to replace batteries/keyboards, etc.
I watched a video on how to change the drive shaft in my ATV when it seemed the like the shaft was welded (not really) to the wheel hub. The video basically showed me I could take extreme measures to get the wheel off with little risk of damage to the rest of the bike.Don't get me wrong - there is likely 1000 pieces of crap on YT for every one worthwhile thing.. YT is definitely not a typical place to "watch TV" from, but it's far from a dumpster juice runoff of the internet.
Now Tiktok - that's probably the dumpster juice right there.
-
@Dashrender I agree that there are many useful vids on YT, but the bulk of what keeps it afloat is most certainly hot dumpster juice. Seeing the garbage that my gf's 14 yo watches confirms that. How tos about changing a taillight in my Subaru or disassembling a laptop are not keeping YT afloat.

They serve two entirely different purposes/audiences.
Netflix does have a handful of original shows, but nothing from the normal channels - at least not until the season is over (at best), the rest of Netflix is old stuff... Nothing wrong with old stuff, it's just not what I go to Hulu for.
You mentioned Live TV - yep, I don't do that either - I can afford to wait one day, I just don't want to wait a year or more for current shows.
I pay $12.99/m for no commercials and get all the new shows the day after their air - I find this very tolerable.I mean, if I didn't care about currently airing shows, I'd dump Hulu altogether (unless they had some kickass original content I wanted to watch - which they currently don't), but I like watching the current seasons - it's how I choose to be.
So again - Netflix and Hulu aren't even on the same page when it come to what it's Non Live TV offerings offer.

OK I agree to a point that some shows require an ad before and after the show - meh. I almost never see the ad after because I stop the show during the credits, therefore the last ad never plays.. .the first ad does, but it's only one, then the show itself is uninterrupted.
Sure I could go from $12.99 to $6.99 and add typical ads to all the shows.. it's worth the $6 for so few ads.
I'd pay $10/m to surf the web ad free! Likely though, my surfing is probably worth a lot more than $10/m to the websites I visit in the ad revenue they earn.

i Didn't see that as an option to watch new tv shows the day after they air..
That's a thing?
