What Are You Doing Right Now

At work trying to distract myself from the news of last night. Here's what the roads look like only a few miles from my house.......
Jeez - It's a good test of the work they did on the the section of road that washed out the last system that came through. Today is April 15th, we are now reporting the second wettest April on record at 10.04" of rain. The current record is reachable since we are expecting more rain today and tomorrow...
This rain is getting crazy. Soon I'll need to bush hog my yard and bale it ... not just mow it.
There is an Espresso machine on it's way to the ISS - they get fresh hot, true coffee. But the tech is experimental - but still.
Listened to the Morning report and the Tech Report on NPR...
Now, back to the internet":D -
Closing cases at the moment...

Thanks all. This is only 2 miles from my house. We are safe and luckily high enough this won't reach us.

Spiceworks is now showing me ads in Spanish about COBOL. Who the heck selects these ads to run?

Umm...ok. That's quite random. First off, COBOL? Really? And the Spanish I can understand based on the fact your IP will be coming from Spain, but still...

Spanish is still a little weird. Why show based on location rather than a language setting? Most IT in Spain wants everything in English anyway.

Yeah, I know. But I'm sure most of the IT native to Spain also speaks Spanish.

MAYBE. I'd guess not, though. Lots of IT comes from elsewhere and doesn't speak Spanish. English is the language of IT globally.

Yes, but while I'm sure many have moved to Spain, like you, I'd still bet the overwhelming majority is natives who speak English and Spanish.

Watching classic Clint Eastwood clips on You Tube.
Who's up for a Dirty Harry scene? Silly question! It's always time for a Dirty Harry quote!

Many people in the US speak Spanish but it doesn't make it the preferred language. Spanish is being required at many, hospitals, some banks and the US Postal Service. It's also very common in the construction world.

Especially if you live in Texas.

Youtube Video"I know what you're thinkin', punk. You're thinkin' did he fire six shots or only five? Now to tell you the truth, I forgotten myself in all this excitement. But bein' this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and it'll blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question. Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?!"
Love this line!

In much of Europe people prefer English so that they are not switching between things for different people. My office here is 100% English.

Drinking my second cup of coffee and moving files off of an old decrepit tower to a new Synology NAS. My Sys. Admin is also talking to me, on speaker phone, about some potential consultants for a project we are working on.

Another major vendor screw up. This time Cox doesn't know what VoIP or PBXs are.... while trying to post "expert knowledge" about them.

Um unless you are very very small since when is it either or? It's both. I guess they think PBX's are the analog/digital systems only no IP Based.
