Was actually looking into Linux replacements for everything today. A ) For the licensing issues and B ) for the fact that I can get away with smaller servers.
As someone who has focused on Linux Admin and Engineering work for the past decade, I'm all for this I like Windows a lot, but there is a soft spot in my heart for Linux.
Especially CentOS and OpenSuse.

Heading to bed here. It is very late. Just kicked off an upload that is listed as taking 350 minutes At least I managed to get a few smaller uploads done before heading off to bed.

Have you considered a smaller format?

@thanksajdotcom but then it wouldn't be 4K!

Yeah, that's the point...why do you need that kind of quality for this kind of video?

Check out Zimbra for a mail replacement. It has an awesome user interface, and the admin side is functional yet easy.

Just got four calls in a row about HPs "exciting new" storage solution.... Why am I so lucky? This seems to be what they are trying to sell.... http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2015/03/19/hp-upates-hybrid-flash-arrays-other-data-center-storage-wares/

I agree with you to a degree. I pulled some video from my Sony Mini-DV the other week,.. Format is still very handy to have.
One of the things I noticed is that the depth of field and crispness seemed short. while I don't have anything that will really wow anyone on the video... having a high end format is nice to have, and with the advancements in TVs, Computers, and mobile devices,... there isn't much reason to no go with a higher format...
But that is of course debatable.

Having 4K is a bit of a novelty. I don't know any travel videos anywhere doing 4K yet.

I'm just thinking that if it takes 1 hour to upload 10 seconds of footage, that's a bit excessive in my book...

It's rough. Takes forever to upload simple things like pictures too, though.

Satellite internet I take it? Down is decent on a good satellite connection but up is ALWAYS painful.
