Getting some quotes for new phones, coming in under what I quoted the boss. So things are looking good.
Don't you love it when that happens?
Yup!

That's nuts. Glad everyone was safe!
What's nuts is that no one cooked hotdogs over that fire.
Come on!

Always a nice surprise.

@rojoloco Do you prefer doing updates after hours and no one reports the issues until the next day?

Not so sure about the plastic that would be on them.

Yes.

Why not do them after hours and task them with verifying before work starts?
-
@dbeato I do updates on the weekends where applicable. Any and all issues will be seen by me, because we are a tiny environment. Nowhere near the claimed 6 million users that crapworks has. And if I started updating and rebooting shit during 9-5, you better believe my job would hang in the balance (actually, I'd be fired post haste for doing something so fucking stupid).

Understood, but this has been going on for 2 weeks with updates on the Community. With multiple feed problems.
-
@rojoloco But this is your normal environment into which you have downtime off hours. Do you have 24/7 systems where there is interaction all the time and you cannot afford downtime? Mangolassi updates happens too albeit at night but still on "production hours". But anyhow in an office environment yeah it will not be nice.

Sounds like they need to consolidate their feces.... I don't suffer from SW community issues because I'm rarely over there (because they suck ass). If it is a problem for you, I'd suggest taking a long break from their horsecockery, then re-evaluate your need to participate there. Just because they haven't screwed you around yet doesn't mean they won't if it behooves them.

9-5 EST, M-F. Outside of that, it's whatever. Business hours = our production time. Lots of off hours time. SW can pretend like they need to be 24/7, but that's a fallacy. The vast majority of their users are on during N America's 9-5. Outside of that, they have tons of time for updates and breaking stuff. They might miss 2 or 3 "first posts" from "IT Pros" around the world, but I doubt that would diminish the community.

@rojoloco I understand, I have been affected by the many bugs there. I don't know how you were affected and for that I am sorry. I will keep an eye for that.

Watch your ass, all you need is one mod to have a boner to get rid of you, then you're banned. Especially a mod whose name rhymes with "ASS". I dare you to say one even less than positive thing about any vendor who gives SW money. You'll be done in a heartbeat. They are marketers, they don't know shit about IT or any kind of technology (except the technology that they use to get payments from vendors).

How do people consider plumbing work to be IT related in any way shape or form? If you're working on getting a hot water heater to work, you're not working in the IT field at all. You're working in the plumber field.
Get your definitions together!

@dustinb3403 The OP has had his share of problems with water included a server room with water on it...

@dustinb3403 if you keep feeding the feeble beast, it will never die. BOYCOTT SW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a red herring as @scottalanmiller would say. The fact that water has accessed his server room means that maintenance has proven yet again inept that their jobs!

I need more whiskey to avoid that place. So much so that I'm not awake to care about what is happening there.
