Finishing up and cleaning up for the boss' returneth on Monday
Weekend full of activities planned, including a possible meet with a mysterious lady whom I've emailed for a few weeks. Life is never boring.

It's not enough that we protect procure maintain and care for all the attendant equipment.
I just had a user ask why the network was "so slow". He had loaded up 50gb of personal photos into an offline sync'd folder. There was less than 50gb of space left on that whole server (primary production file server) and I caught it and stopped the sync with only moments to spare*.
I'm going to need a drink with lunch.
*the unexpected benefit of slow 100mbit LAN

@coliver At a guess, 200ish
Edit: I know what you're thinking heheh. Problem is they're not owned by the company I work for - they're shared. To upgrade I'd need buy in (and $$$$) from all stake holders.

-
@coliver yeah all PoE. Had my eye on some ubiquity stuff recently, but reality is it'll be next year at the earliest to get that done.

@scottalanmiller If this job was easy they would have hired someone else

Wow... I didn't realize that, that is nuts. So you work for one company but share/support the network infrastructure with another?

Ubiquity has some really nice stuff. I standardized on the new Netgear models (which work fantastically) prior to their release or I would have totally bought them.
-
Ubiquiti looks really good. Netgear is still what we use almost everywhere too.
-
I have not gotten to see those new Ubiquiti switches in action, has anyone had a chance to play with them?
