I just can't figure out what this guy is trying to do. He has a physical security need, but doesn't want anything physical?

Leave it in the car park tied to an alligator?

He's being stubborn, out of his depth and stuck on some mind-trip where he needs less hardware, but physical hardware to access a single VM from within his server room.

Dealing with a customer who likes to say that we are not available. But every time they email and say "can we do a call" we are like "yup, sitting by the phone, just call and we'll pick up" and then they wait a week and say the same thing again, acting like we "can't make connections." Um... not bothering to call is not the same as not making a connection. And right this second "are you available on Skype right now"? Yes we are, here is our ID, why didn't you provide yours? Oh... and now radio silence when you asked for a call? Argh. Weeks of this.
Why don't you call them?

I had a woman ask me why a specific issue was occurring and then complain to her director that I explained what the issue was for too long. It was barely a minute.

Internet went out for a bit. Trying to get moving again. I was doing good to get stuff done.... now my motivation is gone.

This guy probably has a valid point, but with all the other insanity this morning, I find it unlikely. To me he comes across as a secretary that is bitter for having to do his job. He actually thinks that an old engineer not knowing PowerPoint is "fraud" because anyone with experience should know it? Maybe anyone with experience as a secretary, not in IT.

Why don't you call them?
Because they are too busy to take calls
But I did and grabbed him in between meetings, but he wasn't able to do the presentation that he wanted to do for me. So I try to avoid things like that because it eats up billable time without being really effective like a scheduled presentation.

It's funny - I run into those types all the time. The reality is that if you're not in IT, you likely think that IT is just anything and EVERYTHING to do with computers, and well shit, you must know it all, everything from how to install hardware to desktops applications to building websites, databases, etc.

Hey, they're paying the bill, that's their problem if they don't want to make the time. they are wasting your time and patience by emailing complaining but not working on things.
Sounds like it's close to time to evaluate if they are a worthwhile client.

Oh I run into them, but not normally in IT.

Yesterday I discovered that we weren't able to send / receive external emails... little digging, discovered that our domain had expired. Emailed the boss, high importance, and...... he ignored it. So now, we are waiting for DNS propagation to happen, dead to the outside world.

Email was down so why would he check his email?

We figured out that the domain in question was under a separate account from all the rest of our domains. So yes, he basically couldn't log in because we have no idea what email was used to get the domain in 1997.

Internal email works fine, external email was hosed. But no spam in the filter today!

I didn't sleep well last night on top of the fact that it was a busy morning, and I had only one cup of coffee this so later in the morning I stated out loud "I need a drink". What I meant to say/mean was "I need another cup of coffee" but it just came out "I need a drink" which with the last two weeks here it is not far off.

@DustinB3403 Luckily I have a taste aversion to alcohol
