CloudatCost and Fibernetics April to May Outage
-
CloudatCost, the cloud arm of Fibernetics in Canada, has been offline for a full day starting at the end of April and running into May. At this time, the outage is ongoing and CloudatCost has stopped responding both in communities like this one and on Twitter. The outage is of unknown scope and at this time may continue indefinitely. The last update was that they were "expecting" service to be restored in forty minutes, over nine hours ago.

Bringing this over from this other thread as it was misleading that a discussion about Pertino connectivity turned out to be a huge thread for discussion the cloudatcost outage.
-
I have been testing about once an hour all morning (it is afternoon here) and still nothing at this point.
-
Their Facebook page hasn't been updated in weeks.
-
I was just going to post something similar and then saw this on Twitter: https://twitter.com/gouda_coin/status/593981128177889280

I have a suspicion that maybe they are not coming back this time.
-
Ouch. But Ann might be onto something here....
-
Not sure why but my server hasn't experienced any outages at all throughout this down time. Lucky me.

You have a CloudatCost server that is online right now?

You are pretty much the only one...

Here is someone with some up, some down...

Yep, hasn't gone offline. Must be one of the lucky ones on an unaffected subnet.

There's no reason for anything to be affected if they have another link up. Do these guys even have an IT background. Maybe there's a reason they are using VMware instead of xen too.
-
And they are using R810 quad socket systems which makes Windows that much harder and are very inefficient for cloud workloads. Everything I found out is just one horrible decision layered on another as if they don't have any IT people there and are just buying whatever they heard about somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if they were considering running the whole shebang on a VRTX.
-
I can get to my server via the console and see that it is up. Just can't use it.
-
I don't know if I'd giggle or cry if the outage was caused by a negative balance in their bank account.
-
Can't say I'm adding anything here.. I can access the panel - but not via the console or with putty.
I am disappointed,.. but it's not the end of the world for me. I haven't really done anything with my two sessions,.. It is what it is. It shows a failure point for any Cloud based service.

No one else seems to be having issues with rodgers at this point. Seems Odd.
@scottalanmiller They might not even be using the enterprise version of ESXi, they could be using some free ESXi license without vMotion given the lack of funding.
Also we have no real proof aside from their own claim to be owned by Fibernetics. There Articles of Organization does not list them, it list some guy (who has a really nice house in Canada btw). It's a Venture capital company that owns a few other risky ventures. Fibernetics has from some reports of some people denied that they own Cloud at Cost and suggested they are more of a partner & provider ( but, not a business partner)
Also I wonder if it's true about only $51,000 net worth http://kikstats.com/site/cloudatcost.com

Here's one of there other ventures: http://www.fongo.com/
It looks like they will partner with most any employee's ideas on companies: http://www.fibernetics.ca/about-us/fibernetics-ventures/

Are there any repercussions if they do this?
