@Minion-Queen - Snow / again? Sorry. Any idea what your total accumulation is?No idea this year. Too much. I am sick of winter. We did get a few 50 degree days last week. But that makes this week even harder to deal with.

@Minion-Queen - Snow / again? Sorry. Any idea what your total accumulation is?We've had 5-6 feet down here. Not really heavy snow mostly light, fluffy powder. We are ~3-3.5 hours from where @Minion-Queen is.

Yeah we have had more than that I am positive. Heck we got that in that first storm alone and nothing ever melted till last week.

I'm sure, we don't have the advantage of getting the brunt of the lake effect that you do. We just get whatever is leftover after going through half the state. I was on top of a mountain four or five weeks ago and got the snowmobile stuck, jumping off I immediately sunk in up to my chest... that was a good two hours of digging myself out.
-
Yeah were we are we are lucky we get Lake effect from Erie and Ontario sometimes at the same time. Boy I really need to move.

And that is one of the nice things about Central Kentucky where I am. I get enough of all four seasons. We get snow,.. but it's only a moderate amount. We get heat,.. but nothing that is so brutal you can't make do. With the Daniel Boone National Forest and all the lakes, we have beautiful springs and colorful falls.. It seems like a really nice balance.
Now if you have allergies - forget it,.. not the greatest here...

@g.jacobse Here in Victoria we get all 4 seasons too! 5 months of spring, 5 months of fall, 1 month 20 days of summer**, 10 days of winter. We even get snow! Once every other year, maybe an inch of slush.
** also known as "the brief time when it does not rain so much"

Odd. we get 4 seasons as well. 2 months of spring, 2 months of summer, 2 months of fall, and 6 months of winter.

Trying to get VLANs to work through my SRW248G4
-
Oh we get 4 season really if your honest @coliver they are more like this:
Winter- 6 months
Spring or pre-roadwork prep-1 week
Summer/Roadwork- 2 months if we are lucky
Fall/oh they will still be working on this next year- 1 month -

Our roads are horrible here. Even ones they just re-did a couple years ago.

You should see our road. It's half patches and half potholes. They only patched the potholes on one side because the road crew said if you patch the whole road it will make if too slippery when it rains or snows, if you potholes give you traction. This is apparently the same reason they only patched the potholes and didn't repave the road as it would be too slippery to drive on. I'm thinking with their logic the road crew must be pot heads.
-
I've not seen one of these is almost 35 years:
It's a pavement heater - This is close to the one I saw and remember as a kid. They heated the asphalt up, raked it with 'fingers' to re-level and then would run over it with a packer.
This smoothed out the road and didn't require much else. They would go back and lay a new sealcoat - but that thing would eliminate pot holes quick.
They are still out there.. but maybe cost doesn't allow for them to be used.
-
Virginia is doing a trial of something new called in place paving it saves them money because they buy no new asphalt they break up the old stuff and put it right back down cold with out any heat. The problem though is these are really rough roads. It jerks you around because it's not very smooth.

Asphalt is great to drive on but consists of nasty nasty stuff!
Roads are all fine here as we don't see the deep freeze thaw cycles like y'all with real winter. One amusing thing is most of our roads are banked much more steeply than you see commonly elsewhere, so that the epic quantities of rain will wash down it and not leave a car breaking puddle of water.
-
Road smoothness is important to several factors. Road noise/tire noise, tire wear and shock wear.

Picked up a bunch (10 of them I think) of AeroHive AP's dirt cheap.
