Got a client running Windows 10, and every time they restart the computer, it resets everything on the desktop - Background is wiped, apps and programs are removed, files are removed, the only things that stay are the recycling bin, and Edge. I have no idea what is causing this, and I have no idea where to start. Anyone seen this before?
Just reload it with Win11 or latest Win10?

Would love to, but don't have the ability to.

Is something like DeepFreeze in use? That could explain part of it at least.

sure, The client is located in PA, I dont have direct access to the computer, they have an internal IT team that I can suggest this to as a fix but we don't have the ability to reload their machines. My current Job is MSP for Restaurants, 100% remote support.

Just a wild guess, but maybe a corrupted profile or a temporary profile that's getting created each time the user boots?

When you say programs are removed - do you mean the shortcuts on the desktop or actual full applications that were installed - like Chrome or Adobe Reader - are removed upon reboot?

Just the shortcuts, good catch.

So found out the user is actually corrupt, this is the 4th time this has happened according to the internal IT team, and they're looking to get the PC replaced

It’s always best to replace a corrupt user. The can leave so much of a mess.
