This is purely hypothetical, if I wanted to deploy an RDS (full desktop experience) using Fedora or Ubuntu for the user workspace, is there a standard approach one would use to setup a Gateway, connection broker and hosts?

One that would setup a website like with IIS and Microsoft's RD Web Access, and filter out the clients to an appropriate non-busy session host?

Kind of, yes. There is a standard for making a TS experience (RDS is a brand name, TS is the general sense of it) for Ubuntu or Fedora (we use it here.) If you want a web front end for it, the standard is Guacamole.

Hrm, I think I recall Guacamole, I'll have to take another look at it.

Memories of Guacamole sounds like an art house foreign film that I might like.
