Are you looking to replace all of your endpoint devices with new VoIP ones?

Well - this is where things get challenging. and I'd want another thread. So give me 30 mins to fix a user issue and make a new thread for this question.

In your specific case, the answer would be maybe.

These are the Mitel devices supported in the commercial EPM module.

Does that mean no other phones will work? No. Some might, but they are going to be something you handle manually.

I have 19 of those (I think). The older Mitel IP phones are 8662s, and while they support SIP, I didn't find a lot of resources for them before, so I'd likely bail on them.

Assuming we replaced all current phones, I'd be needing between 103 - 122 new phones.

Mitel has a migration path for the Digital phones - keeping them digital on a new Mitel 5000 for approximately $10K. This would allow us to continue using all of the current phones with no change. As old digital phones die, we can replace them with current digital models for approx $95-200 depending on model desired. What I don't know is if I'll need new digital licenses to go along with them? This solution also ensures I don't need to run any new cabling.

This will still be the least expensive short term solution.

Moving to an alternative system whole sale would be a minimum of $100/phone - $12,200 + power bricks or POE switches for buildings 1(2 switches at $850/ea) and 3 (1 switch at $400).

Total before any hired services or cable replacement - if needed - $14,300

Something seems off - this number seems way lower than I was thinking it would end up being.

The biggest issue most businesses have is the "but I have phones already, can't we just use it"?

So I'd imagine you'll have a battle to get that $12,200

That $100 would get you a Yealink T42S + power brick, easily. That is Amazon pricing. You can likely find lower cost by getting into distribution channels.

Yeah, T42S comes with the power brick for under $100! All in one box.

The SIP-T21P is likely more in the price range he'll be able to afford once this comes through.

                    Only $46.99

And that's if you need high end phones. If you are coming from digital phones, you might not want to go so nice.

Unless he can convince people to change call parking, he will need buttons.
I've been down this road with him twice.

Telephony Depot has this. I created an account with them ages ago for a client. It does seem they only want resellers now though. So /shrug.

Those are the old model. While not EOL yet, most of the rest of that design has been EOL.

The current base model is the T40G, IMO. There is a T19P-E2 for a single line, no button phone.

The T41S is the non-gigbit version of the T42S.

There is not an afford thing here. The doctors likely wouldn't want us to use the shittiest little phones... spending more is OK... $100/phone would be pretty easy spend.

No - the sunk cost thing really isn't the issue this time.

I have to spend $10K to update my old shit - or spent $14,300'ish to get all new...

Is $14,300 realistic? What's generating the last bit over the handsets, the gateways?

And that's if you need high end phones. If you are coming from digital phones, you might not want to go so nice.

Our digital phones are crazy with buttons.. granted we don't use/need them... but moving to a phone that is super stark in comparison would be a moral killer - there is at least a tiny bit of value in that.

                                            Yealink T42S

The SIP-T21P is likely more in the price range he'll be able to afford once this comes through.

                                            Only $46.99

There is not an afford thing here. The doctors likely wouldn't want us to use the shittiest little phones... spending more is OK... $100/phone would be pretty easy spend.

BUT they are okay with embarrassingly old shitty phones now. So that makes no sense. By that logic, they'd go to full VoIP right now for that very reason alone.
