Basically, these are re-packages university lectures from inspired professors and enthusiastic about their subject.

@scottalanmiller iTunes U is strangely positioned. Hard to find it if not already aware of it. For instance, it is deselected from being visible on default iTunes software install. As they are more straight classroom recordings, content is less polished and takes more time to find the gems.

Overlooked mentioning the Great Courses are pricy, however have seen them at various libraries. A rather good one, getting away from I.T. and relevant at the same time—

            • These often do have full text transcript books and an accompanying guidebook

Amazon's Audible can be a way to get them more affordably—

iTunesU is now a separate install completely which is nice but confusing.

These are my favorites too. Also, if I miss CarTalk from NPR, I'll listen to the Podcast. I'm not the biggest car enthusiast, but the episodes are funny, and they don't always talk about cars 🙂

@KatieUnitrends oh yeah, forgot about CarTalk. I'm sad that it has ended, but there is so much of the back catalog to listen to.

I have two Podcasts that I regularly listen to. Not really provacative stuff but I am a huge pnp gamer so these are good ones to get ideas from.

                      Welcome to Nightvale (http://commonplacebooks.com/)

                      and

Role Playing Public Radio Actual Play (http://actualplay.roleplayingpublicradio.com/)

I sit in the car for close to an hour a day so it is nice to listen to things that get the creativity going.

I have several faith podcasts I listen to and a few talk radio shows. My commute is about 15 minutes so it can take me a whole week to listen to something like Windows Weekly. 🙂

I usually listen to a bible study via a podcast when I am stuck in the car a long time but that doesn't happen very often to me. I tend to save them up a bit for long flights. I need to start listening to them more often. When I went to Vegas last month I had over 50 to listen to all week long.

Not much of a podcast guy. Used to listen to Going Linux and used to have my own podcast, the Linux Geekdom podcast. Other than that, I used to listen to Computer America. That was pretty good IMO.

Really, really good. Almost makes me want to start a startup company.

One I cannot recommend enough and I've listened to every show to date is:

                                http://thefpl.us/

It's NSFW so don't listen to it around your puritanical boss or great grandfather or something.

They basically go out on the Internet, find crazy things people have written (ideas, recipes, reviews for products, fan fiction, weird sex stories about pokemon, etc) and read them in various voices, etc. There's even a few professional voice actors as well. Some episodes are better than others, but ones I can think of off hand I really enjoyed:

http://thefpl.us/episode/142 - Indie Go Go Go Away
                                http://thefpl.us/episode/147 - This Episode Doesn't Need A Title, Man
                                http://thefpl.us/episode/146 - Don't Patreonize Me

Plus ones with this guy tend to be especially great:

I've been listening to The Mixed Six two guys drinking and rating random beers while talking about literally anything.
