We're glad to hear that you're so excited about this new option! The new deployment option will allow you to deploy on Linux instead of just VMware or Hyper-V, as we've offered for the last few years. If you've been around awhile, you may remember that when both hypervisors allowed for tape archiving,, UEB was tape compatible. Since neither seemed to be opening this up again, we developed the ability to deploy on Linux just to meet this need. Please let me know what questions you may have.

RE: Spiceworks let go 12% of their workforce today
Even if Spiceworks isn't quite your thing today, many of us have benefited in some way from a Spiceworks program at some point, and more importantly, probably know someone who was affected, so keep your eyes open for job opportunities that you can share with these former Spiceworks employees to help them get back on their feet soon.

RE: Concur for Expense Reporting - Experiences and/or Suggested Alternatives?
We used the exact same type of expense reporting that you are using now before we moved to Concur at least 3 years ago. It's definitely easier to keep up with my expenses when I'm traveling with Concur vs trying to remember to retain every receipt on long trips since I can just upload a photo of each receipt to the app, and create an expense entry on the fly. Our accounting team seems to prefer this method over the old physical paper method as well since it's easier to read and account for specific types of expenses.
Admins can alter the settings so that certain fields are required on specific expense types, like names of attendees at a business lunch, and explanations can be required when an expense type is above the budgeted amount.
I know that you can export a copy of your expense report, and there are ways to export the entire org's data, but you should probably work with Concur to determine what the limitations of this are.

RE: XenServer - Free Incremental Backups - Guest Level
As others have mentioned (thanks guys!), our Untirends Free only protects VMware, Hyper-V, & Windows clients, however our paid editions start at $299, which is a one time cost, and includes the 1st year of support. After the initial year, the only costs that you'll have going forward will be for support, which includes tech support & all software updates. This post about our updated XenServer protection went up on our blog yesterday. Please let me know what questions you may have.

Win a $150 Amazon Gift Card + more fun prizes
Hey folks! Unitrends is giving away a $150 Amazon Gift Card to someone who lets us know that they're following us on LinkedIN, Twitter, etc. The more networks you're following us on, the more chances you have to win.
And to sweeten the deal, the 1st 500 people who enter the contest will also get a Tile Mate, which is one of those cool bluetooth trackers that you can attach to almost anything - your wallet, your keys, or even your dog - so that you can find it when you lose it. It's kind of like a backup for your memory.
Let me know what questions you may have, and good luck on getting your hands on one of those Tile Mates.
And don't forget to enter to win here.

RE: Are All Copies Backups?
I think of copies and backups like this: a backup is a conscious effort to protect your data, while a copy is just a duplicate of your data. Backups are most likely run on a regular schedule, and offer some way to easily restore the data when needed, as well as check to make sure that they're working correctly..You may be diligent enough to copy your files after each change, but most likely, you're not. If you don't make a new copy with each change, or even once daily, how useful is a copy if you need to restore from it? Also, how do you check to ensure that the copy hasn't been corrupted?

RE: New UEB
There will be a special new free version available, which includes HTML5 - you can sign up for it here> http://go.unitrends.com/Freedom2015.
We will not be releaseing the HTML5 GUI in the appliances until later this year since we want to make sure that all the kinks are worked out first.
Please let me know what questions you may have.

RE: Backup solutions for Xenserver
@jrc Jarrod - I'm sorry that the techs that you've worked with have made you feel this way. I'm looking into your cases to understand what has happened so far (since i was out on maternity leave for 3 months until just a few weeks ago), and will see what other options we have.

RE: Epic Road Trip!
Stop in Asheville on your way out of NC for lunch - you won't be disappointed. A few of my favorites are:
-
Tupelo Honey (go to the one in South Asheville - they take reservations, there's usually not that long of a wait as compared to the one downtown, and it's just off of 1-40)
-
12 Bones Smokehouse - Amazing BBQ with locations in the River Art's District or Arden, which is just off of 1-40
-
Papa's & Beer - Delicious traditional Mexican joint
-
Salsa's - Fresh, Mexican & Carribean fusion restaurant - menu changes daily, and I've never had a bad meal there.
There's also a number of local breweries (Sierra Nevada, LAB, Highland), and a rocking music and art scene, as well as easy access for hiking the Appalachian Trail.
Travel safe!
