A family member has refused at least 5 attempts of me trying to back up their pics and videos on cloud storage. Well, today my daughter (15 months old) picked up her phone and dropped it and damaged the screen. The phone will turn on, but the screen is completely black.

It's obviously working as notifications are coming across. The screen has a passcode, but we know it. I tried connecting it as a media device, but on screen approval is needed. What can I do?

Ok maybe stupid question, does the digitizer still function? If you plug it in and just tap on the area where the pop up is, can you get it to accept?

I am not sure, I was thinking about hooking up an OTG cable and a usb mouse which I know would work, but if I am sure I have a high chance of locking myself out with incorrect pin entries.

I didn't realize you needed the pin to allow the approval, for some reason I was just thinking it was a popup window with an allow/deny choice.

That’s the computers security. Not the Androids.

Really? My experience is that it wont allow file sharing unless you accept it on android.

It makes sense though, because you dont want anybody just picking up a phone that can't unlock and being able to pull the files off. It kinda defeats the whole purpose of the pin.

I'd try a keyboard first. The OTG should let the keyboard through.

It looks like you can use a keyboard as one of the forum members mentions doing it in a reply here. He/she was sucessful doing it on a S5 which is what we have.

If the mobile support Mhl you can connect it to a TV with a Mhl-Hdmi cable and watch the mobile screen in the Tv.

In your situation, you may need to ask help from a Broken Android Data Extraction tool. It helps you extract data from a broken screen or dead Android phone.
