Nope. Not ever. I am quite familiar with the author and the premise of the books. I read a decent sample of book one years and years ago and said nope.
I am an avid reader of the sci/fi and fantasy genres, with a library of ~1000 physical books, but I do not like that series.

Yeah, as my follow up post said, I tried the first book.
I gave it a good shake, made it about half way and couldn't bring myself to finish it.

Nah, I know a number of people that have been fans of the series for years before it became a TV show.
It is not a horrible series, but it is not my style either.
