I just installed Korora 25 last night to a laptop to test things out.
I hate the default desktop experience. Any suggestions form those of you who have been using Korora?
Which one are you using? I liked MATE and XFCE the most.
I'm using XFCE currently. I really like what Korora has done with it.
-
Although I have mixed feelings with KDE, I don't mind using it with Korora.

I have no idea. whatever is there after initial install.

I thought that you had to choose a desktop option when downloading. Last time I downloaded I had to pick.
-
I think that it defaults to giving you Cinnamon.
-
I use just plain Fedora 25 with Gnome 3. I might start playing with the new plasma workspaces since the windows button is finally able to open the app menu and is not just a modifier.

I did not see any. Option to pick a desktop during install

If you go to their download page, it automatically selects one at random (step 2). You can test it by hitting refresh.

I will try that as soon as I get to where I'm not driving

You don't DLI? (download Linux while Driving)

Also how do I know which version I actually have in my download?

You can see which of the 5 icons are selected in Step 2 on that downloads page. And when you mouse over the download link, torrent or direct, it says in the URL. (also in the .iso)

Looks like I have KDE.
I did not actually pick one. I simply clicked download, so I randomly got KDE.
Now to switch to Cinnamon.
-
Ok, switched to cinnamon. I like this one.
I am not sure how to articulate what it was about KDE that I did not like.
It simply put me off from the get go.

Oh. I respect the KDE team a lot but I've not been comfortable with their desktop post version 3. It's solid and loaded with features but the Plasma stuff is weird and not intuitive. If you go "power user" on it I'm sure it's great. But for me, I left it as I'm a more casual style desktop user and it just didn't fit with me.
I think that they decided that the market was full and that they needed to really innovate to be relevant, which they did. It's interesting and someday I hope to have time to dig into it more.

Sweet. That makes more sense to me. I find Cinnamon hard to dislike. It really holds onto the goodness of what Windows 7 was but with a super polished modern feel.

Ya I don't see the use of the plasma workspaces. I use the traditional workspaces a ton in Gnome 3, but I don't see the value to what plasma does with them. I tried having a separate "business" vs "personal" workspace a while ago and just couldn't wrap my head around the use case.

The first thing I do if I'm using KDE is change that stupid applications menu. I can't stand the default one. It's slow and looks awful.

Same here. The old style desktops I used and liked. Plasma I just can't figure out.
