Will it be just yourself or is this more of conference room type use?
single user office.
Then yeah... the snowball does work well. If you needed something with surround capabilities then we'd be in a different item class.

Art beat me. The Snowball is supposed to be one of the best.
We have the older white one, and never had a single issue with it... even in Africa. I think that one might not work with Windows 10 or something, though. I can't recall.
I have heard that they are great, but it seems overkill for a single office user for limited gotomeeting participation.
Could also use it for your DnD nights

Not for me.

Then why not just use the mic on a headset or something?

Logitech has a really nice headset with an amazing mic for like 20-30$. Plantronics has a very similar one for a few dollars more. Let me see what the model number is.

That is obviously an option being discussed. I wanted something a bit better. Just dunno if $45 better is more than they want to use to deal with it.

I would think so. It's mostly aimed at like semi-pro podcasters or similar.

Ah, so this is for a "someone other than yourself" use case.

Plantronics has the Audio 648, I had one of the earlier models and really liked it. Doesn't look like Logitech sells their version of it, that I had, anymore. I preferred the Logitech version it was much more comfortable and the cable was longer. But the Plantronics one had a much better mic.

Last job I bought a Samson C01UCW and it was great for recording people talking during weekly meetings. Incredibly clear. I think this one is out of production now but they have the Meteor/Meteorite which look quite good, and probably perform well.

Blue mics are the way to go. Snowball, Yeti, whichever one you can afford, but go w/ Blue. They used to be all hand made in Latvia by artisans who used to work for Neumann (noi-man, say it right). The USB ones are Chinese made, but the designs are the tits. I have a snowball and 2x Yetis, all awesome.
FFS, no Samson, no Plantronics, no Logitech if you are actually seeking a real microphone. If budget rules, then I no longer give a f@ck what you use, and you obviously hate good sound (snowball mic is like $50).
edit: skip the Blue "ice" snowball... get the real one, $69.99 https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Snowball-Microphone-Textured-White/dp/B000EOPQ7E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1488490633&sr=8-3&keywords=blue+snowball+mic
