@wirestyle22 It wouldn't been great if the weather man got up and punched him in the head for being in the shot.

How does that work? If you have money for a downpayment, I would choose food and delay car another half month or month.

Maybe he's hoping there will be some french fries under the passenger's seat or something....

Money for down payment will be coming out of taxes, and I'm the main breadwinner for a household of 3 right now. It's going to be tight for another few months. But we need a car. Desperately. So I'll live. Just eat when I get home.

My girlfriend and another friend. I'm not who I was a year and a half ago. I have my own place, I take care of my shit, and that of people I care about, and I do what I have to so that things are done and covered. I also believe in paying it forward in honor of those who helped me out when I was in a bad situation.

I was making NO references to the past. Just a general ouch statement supporting 3 people.
No where I said anything about the past.

Yeah, on one job making less than $20/hour. It's tough.

                                  Had Sushi for lunch today.

                                  Simple and pretty cheap.

                                  Cheap sushi in America? Ewww.

We have a good grocery store named Wegmans (that started here in rochester) it's actually really good, and well priced.

It's not super awesome sushi but it is actually pretty good. Wegmans prices are awesome and the sushi is made fresh right there in store.

Maybe there is something actually to Wegman's.

@NerdyDad oh no, it is THE WORST place to work ANYWHERE. No one works there that can find work anywhere else. Those polls don't mean at all what you think that they mean. People who work at Wegmans are SO thankful that someone, anyone hires them and doesn't fire them because they are generally unemployable. Some of the least skilled, least motivated, lowest paid people you will ever find. Every internal position in the company comes up from cashier - so they filter out anyone with the slightest motivation or qualifications because if you know anything or are just a hard worker, someone else will have paid you more when you were a teenager. So everyone, in every position in the company, is someone who depends on cashier experience for their job... think about that!

I've literally never worked in any place so universally unhappy and unqualified. It's horrific. They have to bring in consultants for everything because their internal staff can't do it and they can't keep consultants because people just quit and leave constantly.

I actually use those reputation lists as a guide of where not to work. Once you think about how a poll like that works, it really opens your eyes.

It's based on surveys that are monitored by the company and you can lose your job (and no one else will hire you) if you don't rank it highly.

But this poll doesn't look at employee satisfaction. It is focusing on customer satisfaction, including those in the corporate workforce.

As a grocery store, it's good. It's not the ground breaking amazing place that NYers tell you. If you travel around the country or world, there are plenty of similar grocery stores. Kaufland in Germany, for example, is very similar but with a bigger selection. It's definitely a good place for customers, and if you are senior enough internally it can be okay, but in general, you'd be freaking embarrassed to work there.

So, its like working for Walmart in the south. Its kind of embarrassing to work there. Its almost just as embarrassing to shop there too.

I was Wegman's corporate guitarist a few decades ago and they treated me great and it was an awesome job. I've never met anyone else who felt that way. I worked for one of their biggest regions. I worked for corporate as a consultant for a year and a half and @andyw worked there too, also in IT. I was a consultant and it wasn't bad, I was able to name my price and work things out so that the job was okay - I literally worked with no one so it was just be making big bucks (2004 - 2005, $85/hr.) But the internal IT people, they were almost in tears every day. That job was so awful. In the department that @andyw was in, it was literally just people sitting around scrolling up and down on their computers because they had one policy that said that they could never stop working to do anything but "write code" and another policy that said that they were forbidden to do any proactive work that was not assigned and since the company was so disorganized that they could never assign work the whole department was caught in a limbo of being forbidden to talk or anything, while being forbidden to work. So they had to "look like they were working" but had to ensure that they created no actual work.
