Is there any Mobile App for this community ?
-
Hi there,
I was searching on Google Play to find if there is any app for this community, but doesn't seems to be.
Is there any plans in near future ? As I believe, we can be more/faster active with app than browser access.
What do you say ?

There is not. It does get discussed from time to time, however. But part of the benefit of the NodeBB platform that we use here is that the mobile experience is actually pretty good. Could an app be better? Yes, it might be. But it would still need to load the same data and respond with the same data so other than loading the initial app, it wouldn't be any faster. In fact, you can think of the browser version as being a mobile app because it is a full application that loads into your browser and once there, it's a mobile app that doesn't reload until you force it to. So, in a pretty significant way, it's actually a mobile app as it is.

I understand what you said. Yes, web on browser is giving good feeling like Mobile App too due to responsive site.
But, my concern is also about, making favourite to some topic to follow up not all or some other features may be ? (I am using SW feed app, I am talking comparatively).

An app will just be using webkit (iOS) or whatever backend is on Android to access the API behind NodeBB. How is that any faster? Are you using a crappy web browser maybe on your device?

Hmmm... so the real issue is that the desktop experience lacks something you would like to see as well?

Not familiar with the SW app, I only use the web site. How does favouriting work?

@scottalanmiller The SW community app is awful...
The only benefit it provides is that it keeps your community credentials.

That app is a horrible example. it does way less than the community.
It is better than their mobile view, but barely.

@JaredBusch I use ML on mobile a lot. But not chat.

I barely use chat at all. The few times I used it on mobile it worked, but i really barely used it.
I use ML on mobile all the time.
I refuse to use SW on mobile, it is unusable to me.
Their app makes it slightly better, but not much. -
Same here. I tried SW mobile but it was too cumbersome.

Their app makes it slightly better, but not much. The new app is light years ahead of the last one. I just downloaded the app for the first time since like 2015.

And it still sucks. I tried it last month. Deleted it off my phone last week.

I'm on ML mobile right now.

My only issue with the web app here is that I can't view the thread while writing a reply. Im on mobile right now, and if I wanted to quote something, I couldn't unless I discarded what im typing now and start over.

That sounds like a browser issue. I feel like that works for me, but now you have me wondering. What browser are you using?
-
@Tim_G I do not generally have that problem as well only "one piece of a post and then make a new post with a different quote

I don't have an issue quoting as you can see above this text. But now if I want to view previous posts and add another quote, I can't. Or highlight some text to quote, same thing, I can't because I'm limited only to this editor... Only an option to post or discard.
I'm using Edge on my mobile phone.

I'm sorry. You can commiserate with @Dashrender.
Seriously though, the view is the same on any screen with this type of resolution.
