Making plans to attend calling hours for a friend this week. He died Saturday. He was possibly as young as 25, but was probably 26. He had a heart attack and died. My girl and I both knew him pretty well and were both friends with him but for totally independent reasons...it's been a rough weekend...
Oh wow, that really sucks Sorry for your loss.

Live in the middle of no where. Closest good food is 15 minutes away (still in PJ's today).

That's true I think FreshDirect delivers from NYC. But I am like 90 minutes from there and they come here.

I live about 6 hours from there

Having a look at Ubiquiti Edgerouter X prices
Looks like the stock power adapter isn't compatible with Australia...Well, that's going to bump the cost up a smidge.
I'd also need a modem, so this will require more research -
HA! Have a look at what just landed on my desk by way of "Do we want to keep it?"
The Dell has a license for Windows 2000 Pro, is a Pentium III AND the Service tag is still recognised by Dell!!! However it has not been tested for Windows 10 upgrade, I'm not sure how I feel about this
- Specs: http://www.cnet.com/products/dell-latitude-c610-14-1-piii-m-128-mb-ram-10-gb-hdd/specs/
- It should be noted that this is the classy version with a DVD drive
The Toshiba has a license for Windows 98 Second Edition... and an AMD 475 MHz Processor!
-
I found a much older Toshiba T4700CT/200 when doing a job a few months ago. That takes the cake for the oldest relic that I've come across in recent times. Specs: http://www.toshiba-europe.com/computers/products/notebooks/t4700ct/product.shtm
Which according to PC Mag 28 Jun 1994 (Google Book here) was $4,475 back in 1994! Wowzers!
EDIT: According to http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ that's worth $7,266.50 today!

Whew... man, what weekend! Wife & Kid had strep throat... I think I managed to dodge the bullet this go round.
-
Dreamt that I was in a zombie apocalypse. Had to catch up on some sleep, got none yesterday (CPAP issues.) @dominica got almost none last night as she stayed up late and then had to take her parents to the airport early this morning. She is fast asleep now.
-
Holy cow am I behind, so much to catch up on!

Thinking I might have to make a FiOS move sooner than later...
"Thank you for being a Verizon Fios customer. Weโre committed to providing you with the best internet experience possible, backed by the latest technology.
Our records indicate that you have an older model router that is being discontinued. If you do plan to keep using your current router, we will begin billing, on 9.29.16, a monthly Router Maintenance Charge of $2.80 (plus taxes), to ensure we deliver the best support.
You also have the option to upgrade to a certified, pre-owned Fios Advanced
Wi-Fi Router. Itโs a one-time purchase of $59.99 (plus taxes) with free shipping and handling for a limited time. This is a great opportunity to enhance your Fios experience with faster Wi-Fi speeds. -

I have FiOS, it's awesome. It's just in a house I never get to go to.
