Really.... need insane performance from storage for a database, needs RAID 10 SSDs.... but is building their database server on a cheap gaming whitebox desktop with a 1.GHz processor! https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1722048-raid-10-on-a-budget-diy-server These requirements do not go together! On and Windows bare metal install.

SSD is not spinning platters of rust, different types of failure and rebuild times on the two types of drives.

I wonder if Simon Travaglia frequents SW...
The latest BOFH sounds very much like several threads discussed here.

https://mangolassi.it/topic/9848/installing-virtualbox-inside-a-virtual-machinePossible, yes. Good idea, no. Something another VM won't solve I take it?

Only 1 more VM to "reinstall" onto XenServer then hopefully set-up some backups too. then hopefully set-up some backups too.

Just getting back on ML after a few days away. Surprised to see there weren't a million more threads than there were.

There should be no issue, but you may not get VT-x inside the guest because VirtualBox can't do V-in-V AFAIK (aka nested virtualization, haven't checked that in a while). The guest OS running the inner VirtualBox basically is not aware of the fact it is running virtual. Edit-1: Hyper-V can do nested virtualization after a little hack. Can do a quick search for the link if you need that. Edit-2:
 https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/4032
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63313At least 32-bit OS'ses should do as guests.

My wife and I binged Stranger Things over the weekend, in between diaper changes and feedings, excellent show. Some very cliche moments but overall the acting, action, and story were pretty much perfect.
