Solved What inventory systems are being used now
-
I believe most of ML users are fans of screenconnect for remote support, spiceworks cloud could be a minimal version of ticketing. What do you use now for inventory? Is it still spiceworks or something else now? Looking for a solution for a friend who wants to have helpdesk outside the office to avoid downtime due to any issues in the local setup. He needs to support a remote office. but he wants to keep the inventory local may be use spiceworks. Not sure if there are option to connect between the cloud helpdesk and locally installed spiceworks.

No way to connect SW local to their hosted helpdesk-only solution.
-
But could you limit the local one to inventory only and use online for tickets?

Yes this is what i suggested, but would be great if the online tickets can be associated with the local inventory hardware/user

Apart from spiceworks, what other tools are being used. To keep up to date inventory of hardware, software and machine health (disk space, warranty etc) would be a nice addition.

PDQ Inventory may be one you could check into. It's from the AdminArsenal (PDQ Deploy) guys.

We use MobileAsset Pro, it works is rather cheap, and allows our remote offices to manage assets as required from a Web console.

free version of lansweeper looks good too! http://www.lansweeper.com/purchase.aspx
Everyone on different forums are complaining about the performance of spiceworks local install.

Yeah, I don't understand why Windows 7/8.1 machines appear as Apple Mac Devices in Spiceworks and asking for SSH credentials.
Lots of weird issues on 3 different sites, so I wrote it off all together.

If I need on-going monitoring and management, LanSweeper.
For manual inventory, Stripe IT.
For inventory combined with helpdesk, FreshService. Though not used it in production for awhile.

How does freshservice compares to Spiceworks cloud help desk? The free version of freshservice

Remember, this is a conversation about inventory. that is the context. There is no way to do this. There isn't even an interface on their hosted solution for inventory.

That's on the hosted helpdesk? What tab? If you link it, what shows up?
