Who are you without IT?
-
So just talking in this other thread... got me thinking: http://mangolassi.it/topic/7163/how-do-you-maintain-a-healthy-work-life-balance/21
Who are you without IT? If you weren't able to do IT as your job anymore what/who would you be?
-
I dreamed before to become a teacher, but i always wanted to become a farmer.
-
I was a wife and stay at home mom before. Musician, avid book reader, baker, cook, and teacher.
-
I went to school for classical guitar so probably something along those lines.
-
I'd imagine something like engineering or a different technical field. I can't think of a world where I wasn't doing IT though.

Is that all you do though? Do you have a life outside of IT?
-
Hopefully I would be able to be a ski bum!
-
@Minion-Queen Just my family... really the majority of my hobbies revolve around IT in some way, shape, or form.
-
Announcements?

Without IT, I'd just be a good looking, smooth talking, talented musician who can cook like a maf. Oh, I forgot modest.

I'll bill you for the keyboard that just got covered in my coffee

I honestly don't know if I can answer that question... I'd likely wind up a hunter or outdoorsman. Technology has been so integrated into my life for so long, it's really hard to separate myself and think about a life without it.
-
I grew up with little to no technology. We lived off grid until I was 14. Then 5 years ago we spent a year in Africa with little to no technology as well. I can live with out it and actually know how to do it very well (I do mean all technology including things like electric and running water). Now I hate being without internet and do my best to never be in that situation (or a flushing toilet but that is another discussion), but I know I can survive and that I am a person without it.
Something that concerns me with having a child is how much can he do without all of that?
-
I'd be further along in building my army of killer robots to take over the world.
-
~ I'd probably be in sales of some form. ~
Hint: Everything is sales in some form

This has been a question I have been working on an answer for nearly ten years... I've come up with a few possible ideas.. but none that will 'take hold'.
Having worked with, on, near, by, for technology for more than half my life, and years more than some.. It's difficult to envision what I would do if I left the IT field. Not only as IT been 'work' but it's been a hobby..
I've driving CDL class B for a while, Help Desk, Admin and such.
I don't want to drive anymore - to much crazy on the road, and it puts me to sleep unless I really wire out.
