@RojoLoco @coliver As far as I can see Cancer is becoming the reward for living life correctly.
Because we have started living generally long enough to not die before cancer can kill us.

To quote one of my band's newer songs: "I don't want to live forever, I just want enough quality and health in life to go as fast as I can, for as long as I can, no matter how short that might be..."

Hurry to meet death before your place is taken!

If you pick a place because it has draft beer, then that's a horrible decision.
Draft beer is flavoured water. -

Draft beer is flavoured water.Huh? Draft just means it comes from a keg rather than a bottle. It doesn't change what the beer is.

Well if that's what was implied than that's fine. Gopher it
There's a bunch of "draft" beer that's sold in bottles here and it's flavoured water. I probably should have added the context, my bad. -

That's like buying a bicycle whose brand name is "car" and saying cars are just two wheeled human powered devices. The term draft means it's.... on draft. That's really all there is to it.
I suppose it is like getting "restaurant chips" in a bag. You are supposed to know that obviously the bag isn't a restaurant. They are hoping that you realize that the bottle isn't a keg and compressed air system at a bar.

Cooperstown???

Cooperstown would be awesomesauce.

Cooperstown???
That would be awesome! There are a number of hotels in the area and a lot of bars. The big problem would be people getting there. There is no easy way to get here (I live very close to Cooperstown) by air the nearest airport is 1-2 hours away and are very expensive.
-
It would be cool but travel issues alone are too huge for a conference.
-
Hmm... Maybe I can convince one of the upstate SpiceCorps to have a meeting in that area. Probably not this winter but in the Spring/Fall it is gorgeous.

Do it while I am in the US, I'll make a special trip. It would be REALLY close in time to MangoCon, though. Although doing a regional SC event right before MC could work. Leverage vendors that are already in the area, speakers already in the area, etc.
-
@Minion-Queen They have plenty of hotels from what I saw when I was there.
I vote for Cooperstown. It is in no way connected by my undying love for baseball

That's the problem though. This is still 5-6 hours away from where the convention will be and the only good way to get here is to drive.

You probably wouldn't have it in Cooperstown... there isn't a lot there except the baseball hall of fame and the regional hospital. You would probably have it in Oneonta (~10-20 minutes away) tons of hotels, restaurants (that are getting better every year), more bars then you would ever believe. There are also two colleges that rent out auditoriums and conference space during the summer. All college kids in the area know Oneonta as "The City with 1000 Bars" you can't walk more then a few feet without seeing another one.

Our location is pretty solid at this point. We sign the contract this week and once I do I will get all the details out there!

Any update that we can get excited about?
