It is super quiet. You can barely hear it over the normal office background noise. I mean you can of course hear it if you stop and listen, but it is not intruding on the office noise level at all.

And yes the unit is cool enough. It moves a lot of air. That is why I put the plates in the front to force the air over the servers and not empty space., just to be safe though. I have to change the filters bi-monthly.

Snapshots don't make open files be closed. Databases keep their files open and snapshots of any system like this are inconsistent, potentially, and unsafe. Only a database aware snapshot is useful for databases. And basically none are.

This is a higher level issue that is far worse when you use SAN level snapshots. They lack visibility not only to open files but to the quiescence state of the entire file system too.

Up to 4GB on-controller Flash-Backed Write Cache (FBWC) - unless I'm doing some extremely large data moves, it feels like I'm writing to flash, even under typical VM workloads.

I agree with PSX. Very often you don't want full backups, just of the bits that matter.

Not at present. You can, however, use the same RAS servers for VPN. Perhaps if/when Macs gain more traction in the mainstream business market, we'll see that shift.

And at their prices there is little reason not to test them out. Very low financial risk.

We have an audit & compliance office. They make it crystal clear HIPAA is the M.D.s personal responsibility as it is. Several have been sacked, fines go to the MDs. Yes, facility will inevitably take a hit, but OCR negotiation on this point has been viable.

Appeal on "you aren't the bad guy", and "it is just another regulation the M.D.s need to follow." Do have CYA documentation. HIPAA action could impact you personally.

I would not recommend Used or Refurb gear to my company. I just don't see the value in it. Hardware is so cheap these days.

Most Small to Medium businesses only need a few Servers to host their virtual environment of 50-100 servers.

I already had a Cisco RV180 lying around and used it for the camera traffic. The only thing I do not have setup right now is static routes.
