I'm Katie, I live in Tampa Bay, FL. I am the Help Desk Manager at NTG.
I own a mango tree, but it will be a few years before it can produce fruits.
In fact, there is a race between my mango tree and avocado trees to see which fruits first.

Free Win8.1 testing in BrainBench
BrainBench is an interesting certification site for a diversity of software products. They now have free testing for Windows 8.1 administration. This is an excellent way to help prepare for the certification exam or just to see where your skills are at present.

Wake up to the smell of bacon.
Wake up to the smell of bacon
Apparently there's this new iPhone app with scent dongle that creates an olfactory alarm when it's time to get up.
It sounds like something that should be really popular for people who like bacon. -
Elements of a good IT career
What are some elements of a good IT career? This is different than a good job, in that a job is not necessarily a permanent thing.
In a good IT career, there are things like continuing education, new challenges, and the ability to stay employed.
I've met many IT professionals in different stages of their career over the years, all with different perspective.
What are the most efficacious traits it takes to maintain a good IT career? -
RE: Anyone else laughing about the title of this board?
@Dominica @bsouder Spicy pepper eating does create a lot more creative output than regular foods. Not for the faint of heart.

Then have Scott move me to east coast to work at NTG, drink beer, and fade into the sunset.
I resemble that remark (including the sunset!), other than already being on the east coast.
Sometimes the beer runs out, sometimes you have to drink it by yourself, and sometimes the sunset is obscured by clouds. -
Cooking with mango
Might as well start a thread for mango foody goodness.
I'll start with a Mango Lassi:
Ingredients
1 cup plain yogurt (use Greek yogurt for thicker drink)
1/2 cup milk
1 cup chopped mango (peeled and stone removed)
4 teaspoons sugar, to taste
A dash of ground cardamom (optional)Method
Put mango, yogurt, milk, sugar and cardamom into a blender and blend thoroughly, then pour into individual glasses, and serve. Can sprinkle with a little cardamom. -

The Scale boat seemed to have fewer people on it than past years.
If that is true, it means it was fatter people than in years past. They were past capacity and had to turn people away and a couple sneaked on after they had closed for capacity as it was. And at least three couldn't make it because they had someone unable to make the trip as quickly as possible. So they weren't just over boat capacity, but had many attempt and fail to get on the boat.
but I think they've been "at capacity" every year. They make a big deal of it being first come first serve.
Yeah, we were talking about fatter people in the lower level - mind you it was heavy people doing the talking, not me.
I was on the lower level of the boat, were you talking about me?

I might suggest you look at some conferences in Florida. I know VMware was talking about one in Tampa maybe in the past few months perhaps? I'm pretty sure Microsoft has one coming up in the next month or two in Orlando as well, and I want to say I heard there is to be a Linux-centric conference also in Orlando before years' end.
Sorry for the lack of names, just rattling off what's on the top of my head. =\
LOL. And they are bound to be SUPER cheap now!
Give us a month or so to get back to normal, please. A Lot of places still don't have power yet.

RE: SpiceWorld London Canceled
Yes, it is very disappointing - particularly because I've been a few times and look forward to it as a venue to see all the UK and Euro friends I've made through the Spiceworks community.
Booking way in advance I am able to save $500 - $700 on my plane fare. I was asked to email the event organizers because I had already made travel bookings, so I did. We'll see what they end up doing to help folks in my situation. -

RE: Our Halloween Tradition
I cut my pumpkin in half and then steamed it. Then I scraped out all the pumpkin goodness and separated the seeds. I took the shell and put it outside for the squirrels.
I seasoned the cooked pumpkin with olive oil, salt, and pepper. It was tasty!
