Yeah, there are some programs that do pings under the hood and give you a chart or a cumulative result that are really handy. Could script that too, of course. But ping is the right technical solution at the network layer.

@scottalanmiller Many have the technology in place since they sell femtocells but I'm not sure why the never full implement it down to the phones directly. I guess it's too much work on their part to make it work on every phone. But I could see them just making an android app/plugin and one for iphones. They don't need to worry about RIM too much.

Cost is a factor but not the big one. PostgreSQL is up there in the top echelons of enterprise databases today (it's what IBM ran internally when I was there and IBM owns Informix and DB2!!) and is what most modern development platforms (like Ruby on Rails) as their de facto standard and what most large hosting environments (Heroku, OpenShift) provide as their standard relational database. That is pretty what has propelled it from being a big player to being the database to beat in recent years.

PostgreSQL and SQL Server will likely be the last two big players that matter in the RDBMS space. Even MySQL / MariaDB is fading from the PostgreSQL onslaught these last few years.

The big competition for both is coming from the NoSQL camp, not other RDMBSs.

I think he deleted and recreated the profile. I would think that there is no PST mapped or attached at this point. When he deletes and recreates that profile it pulls mail down from the Exchange Server and builds an OST file.

OWA is a good test since it rules out any local issues with Outlook and Outlook profiles.

AD is only down for long periods of time because no one notices. If we were monitoring the AD environment closely, which we certainly need to do but it isn't a priority, we wouldn't have those long outages. They really are. Especially when speed doesn't matter and there are few writes.

I don't know about poor write speeds. Never had issues with them personally.

As for all of those other accounts my account has access to being in a single profile - maybe it's an Outlook 2013 thing, but they are all there now by default.

I logged into a new computer, setup Outlook 2013 - bam all of those aforementioned accounts show up in the list down the left side.

Perhaps I didn't see them on my desktop because I always have my folder list open and there's enough of them that they push the other users accounts off the bottom...

Thought I would pass that along.

Nope no U3 on it... and like @technobabble I delete anything on the drives before use.
