Well, if you are only doing non-fiction it might be worth it. Does it "cliff-note" them or something?

RE: Upgrading our Veeam backup server
Furthermore, with several (maybe most) Synology models you can expand/add storage via optional enclosures that would be completely transparent to the devices you are presenting the volumes to. So it would not even need the Veeam scale-out feature to allow you to increase storage capacity.

Migrating File Server from Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2012 R2 - Volume Shadow Copies
I am migrating my last physical file server to a VM and was wondering if there is a way to copy/preserve the volume shadow copies from the old box when moving to the new one. The only thing I see on MS technet site is noting the copy schedule to apply it on the new server. Nothing about actually preserving the copies.
Anyone know if there is a way to do this?

RE: Weekend Plans
@scottalanmiller I love Mahler. The line up for the next several months for the Dallas Symphony looks awesome. Mussorgsky next weekend!
And this is a cool service -

Interesting. I appreciate the creativity but this is also a DC that I want to demote and get rid of and in-place upgrades are pretty much the worst thing I could imagine.

RE: Dell PERC Question (Server Down)
I have two Dell R720XDs with redundant SD cards running ESXi6. I have two more R710s running 16GB Sandisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 Flash Drives, also running ESXi 6. I got them for three reasons- The had great reviews, they are cheap and they are tiny, which means they are a lot less likely to get knocked off or broken in the USB port.

RE: Temporary Profile logged in...
There can be several reasons for this happening. Mostly, it is a corrupt user profile. You can navigate to the registry key and locate the user that has the .bak and rename it by removing the .bak
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
EDIT: LOL. Guess it isn't that...

RE: Temporary Profile logged in...
Maybe this could be of use. Although, I don't know what Windows does if it tries to login and can't and then can't create a temp profile.
http://serverfault.com/questions/309692/disable-temporary-user-profile-on-workstations-in-a-windows-2008-envFrom the answer:
Use the group policy setting "Do not log users on with temporary profiles", to be found in Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Administrative Templates-> System -> User Profiles. So I did a search and found that it will just log the user out if it can't load the profile.

WTF good is that? I hate registry. Why isn't there a GPO for that.
There is a GPO for that:

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Circled back to try finalizing Apple DEP after 5 months. Apparently, account setup was never 100% complete. Although, I had a username and password and was verified by them over the phone after providing the D-U-N-S number for the company back then. I tried to login to business.apple.com with the info I had already used in July. Was denied with a message to the effect that I wasn't allowed to login because I hadn't set it up.
After calling support again, I was told that I still had to go through an older version at deploy.apple.com and go through some additional setup, only to have to wait up to 5 days for verification again. Also, you have to use several different email addresses. WTF? Why is this crap so complicated?

Looking to Hire a Help Desk Tech - Best Places to Post Ad?
Title pretty much says it all. I am the sole IT admin and our HR Coordinator quit a month ago and my boss (Director of Operations and HR) will be on medical leave for a few weeks and he told me to get this started but haven't ever posted an ad before.
Thanks for any advice.

Looking into setting up QOS on Sophos UTM for VoIP. It looks a little more involved than I would have thought.

RE: Why is VMWare considered so often
One thing I left out is that the package also includes Veeam One for monitoring your virtual environment and backups. I can't remember if they sell either separately or not. So keep that in mind when determining cost.
