One thing to keep in mind with Sonicwall that you can't have Static DHCP entries within the DHCP Scope.

      That is so annoying!

This is just a crazy limitation! JB would likely die than use that because of this alone... 😛

I think JB likes all UTM devices about the same. Toss em in the lake I say.

      Good morning all!

It's almost afternoon here already, where'd the morning go?

Charging head long up the hill, headed towards "Weekend" ?

Weekend, what's that? A mythical beast or Greek god?

That's not "on the way out", that's done.

If you've already paid for the support and/or warranty to replace it, then do that.

If not, pick an EdgeRouter https://www.ui.com/products/#edgemax and get rid of that way to expensive equipment.

Not a fan of Cisco gear at that level of performance. They do make good gear, but the good gear starts around ~$13,000 last I looked.

No ISO of Windows XP to build a VM and do this with?

I probably have some stashed away somewhere, but no, in this case https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/confirmation.aspx?id=11575

Two is one and one is none.

If you are depending on something, there should be two firewalls.
And in that case you just get the faulty one checked out. That's what support and service is for.

Now you are paying the price for not having the right setup in the first place.

I would go up the food chain and ask how important this connection is. If it's important, have a new one shipped out immediately.

It's a low end Cisco ASA. Why would they want to buy another one of those when then could get 8 better performing Ubiquiti Edgerouter Pros for the same price?

Because it's too much work to change when your under a time constraint. And you have no clue what kind of issues you are going to run into and how long it will take to sort it out.

And if they want HA, which it sounds like they should, Edgerouter is a no-go.
It can do VRRP but it can't sync connections or configuration so it's basically useless for anything mission-critical.

Where are you getting the need for HA from what @Jimmy9008 has said so far?

With the Edgerouters you buy 2, set the config for both and put the extra one on the shelf. If you can't afford 5 minutes of downtime, you shouldn't be using an ASA in the first place.

Edit: And with buying 2 Edgerouters, you still save tons of money on the purchase price!

@travisdh1 I've had issues like that with old versions of IE. Check out ietab in the Chrome store. You can set the level of emulation in the settings of the extension. Play around with it. Java is excruciating but eventually works.

ietab just uses the installed iexplore.exe to run things, still the same bugs as current Internet Explorer. The problem here is that I need and old version.

Chrome and Firefox are my daily drivers. It's just horrible old software that forces you to use IE.

    • HP print drivers

I was having issues installing HP print drivers today (m452fdw). Through troubleshooting this, I saw in event viewer that it was failing to install some version of .net 1!

That was in addition to the Windows update system being completely broken on the thing.

Edit: I should mention that I did get this fixed. Bad enough that I thought everyone should know.

      RAID 5

Why raid 5 today with all of the evidence that it's dead tech. Are these SSDs that makeup the array?

My boss configured the RAID, and yes they are SSD’s.

      Would you recommend 10?

RAID 5 on SSD should be fine. It's the old-fashioned spinners that the major issues exist with.

      Finished a 15hr print: AA/AAA battery holder.

Built a frame for a mold, about finish now... will be used in leather work (not by me).

Gotta research some Cad option as I don’t want to limit myself to TinkerCad. But I’ve had okay results so far, even for the third project and maybe two hours of work...

Doesn’t seem to bad for a ‘no marketable skills,’ ‘obtuse,’ ‘did you google that’ person-

      🤪

TinkerCAD is really good for making 3d prints with, even for more complex models. If you do need to move up to something like PRO-E or Solidworks, it's gonna get really expensive. I've never gotten the hang of using Blender properly, many have had success with it, so definently check that out as well.

Does anyone have an opinion on these security services that take your password and check to see if it has been compromised? I just cant get past the idea that, aren't you simply increasing the probability that your pattern or method of building passwords is now added to the pool for analysis???? Am I being paranoid?

You're not completely paranoid, but your concern is pointed in the wrong direction. Those password pool analysers only have already leaked passwords in them so far as I know. If you get a match, you need to go change that password asap.

I'm frustrated with my insurance company - so everyone knows to stay away from them, this is my story:
got a call the other day that they haven't been pulling ACH and want me to pay back what they didn't take - Cause I have their insurance but they didn't pull the money or send me a bill or anything.
I call them back yesterday to see how much it should be and its double what my Insurance rate /month x3 (for the 3 months I haven't paid cause they didn't pull that)
should be. So I get confused, and start asking questions, and they basically want me to pay for their mess up. If we did that in my company, we would have to eat those months we didn't bill them for. and end up being out that money because of our mistake.
It's my responsibility to pay the insurance - but it is their responsibility to pull that money out of my account through the ACH that I set up in the beginning - which is exactly why I set up the ACH. was So I didn't have to worry about sending checks in the mail, and it gave me a discount.
they've updated my rate to a lower rate, and then told me that I still owe double my original amount..

Stay away from Farm Bureau Insurance.. I'm looking for new auto and Home insurance.

I just want to stay away from the FBI in general.

Where is /etc/jitsi/videobridge/sip-communicator.properties file to change values? in docker configuration files?
      thanks

It's inside the docker container. You need to start a bash shell within the container its self.
