RE: Currently Open Community Issues
I've noticed that when I visit the site, I don't get paid. Could this be corrected also?

RE: Anybody in online retail and warehousing I need ERP advice

Have you looked at something like Odoo?
Another good one is ERPNext. I used it a lot just for the accounting portion, but it has a lot of features and is customizable.

RE: OnHub
This is along the same lines as a Blackhawk or that d-link spaceship router with a million antennas.
For ~$50 more you could buy a small Sophos UTM. Or save money like Scott said and get all ubiquiti.

Hmmm... SAM can't post to Spiceworks?
Quick, everyone head over there and recommend SANs, FreeNAS and VMWare!
Pffft, I'm going to post about how epic RAID5 is with giant arrays - bigger the better.
Or how HA on VMware is a requirement for our business (and we didn't do any cost analysis).

You can get an ER-X for 60$ (Not sure if that is what others here would recommend) you can also get a UAP-AC for $100. Not bad for the start of an enterprise network.
If you have an account on the Ubiquiti site, you can buy them for $49 from Ubiquiti.
I just looked, you can also buy the AC-LITE for &89.00
Edit: If you're in the US.

RE: how to configure XenServer NIC ??
This was resolved. The VM was running. After shutting it off, the interface could be removed.

RE: Is Best Buy the single worst-run company in the history of the world?

When you live in a rural area. You are stuck if you need something now. Our choices here are Staples (which never has anything in stock), Office Max which is worse, Walmart or Best Buy. That's it. Unfortunately BB usually has what I need. But I always look elsewhere first. I have gotten some great deals through them a couple times but on things like monitors or cables, hard drives that kind of thing.
I order things from Amazon 99% of the time (seriously) the UPS or FED Ex guy are here every day of the week.
That's because that's where their margins are
Amazon with a prime membership is probably the best thing ever.

RE: Open Source Alternatives to Microsoft Publisher
For vector design, I use Inkscape. I've designed some logos for people with it and it works really well. I've only used Scribus a couple of times but it seemed fine when I used it.

What sort of backup tools do you see people using in XEN environments? Is there a Veeam \ Unitrends \ VDP equivalent?
I have a bash script that takes snapshots and exports them, then deletes the snapshot. It's based on custom fields for the VM. Here's a link: https://github.com/markround/XenServer-snapshot-backup

RE: San Francisco transit hacked
What's scarier to me is, who trusts these systems after something like this? Sure, you got your data back, but who knows what else is now on the network that you won't find.

RE: Unsecure routers, webcams prompt feds to sue D-Link
This is why the one D-Link camera I have is on its own VLAN with no outbound access and is only accessible from the outside through an SSH tunnel.

Useful Linux Commands
I figured maybe we could make a thread of useful commands you know/use.
Here's a good one to start with:
If you want to see ip addresses connected via ssh type:
echo $SSH_CLIENT | awk '{ print $1 }'

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
It's amazing how lazy I've become. I complained because I can't use ansible to update my jump box. I have to log in manually because it has 2FA.
