Only a few large countries have it so far. Only the biggest economies justify the effort on Microsoft's part, unfortunately.

It is all about the tax write offs. Yeah they have lots of ways to donate and write things off, but this is the feel good method.

They only donate the starter level. The goal is really to get people addicted and have them upgrade. Problem is, too few do so it causes problems. I don't believe that they get any kind of write off for that, though, it is an all out marketing loss leader and as it is a service cannot normally be taken advantage of in a tax sense, at least not in the US.

Good additional resource, although his guidance on disk size for RAIDZ is bad because it is array size, not disk size, that matters and no modern disk or array is realistically small enough to ever consider RAIDZ. So RAIDZ (because it is just RAID 5, nothing more) has been dead with at least 2009.

Amazing that just a year ago it seemed like Intel was unstoppable and that the need for non-Intel chips was waning. Now POWER and ARM are threatening market domination and Intel fears marginalization.

And Sparc remains amazing even though we hear little about it.

Well this is certainly not the case at where I'm at. Devs don't really communicate or document well and then testing is somewhat haphazard at times. QA seems to be an after thought.

So much like V8 and Spunkmonkey or whatever ridiculous name Firefox has for theirs? That's good, might help a lot with making iOS devices faster.
