      Thank for the replies.

Yes, I have MongoDB in use. I intend to have many more clients than I am currently working with.

Do you recommend reinstalling and while I am at it maybe do it on Fedora? May I import existing clients or does that require reinstalling them?

I have also yet to set up Let's Encrypt.

@scottalanmiller I followed the MC install guide for Ubuntu and it read the following: "In all cases, MeshCentral must not be installed as root user. It’s not secure and the instructions below will not work correctly," which is why I installed in userland.

@smartkid808 I too had trouble with MC on Linux because I am not a regular Linux user.

scottalanmiller has helped me a great deal. The man has the patience of a saint.

I'm using the Vultr instance with 1GB RAM and 25GB SSD, with Ubuntu 18.10 and with only 8 agent sessions connected, RAM usage is at 62 Mb free, 983 Mb total.

      Is this normal?

How do you enable automatic server update?

For me, checking box and clicking OK to start server self update causes server to disconnect, automatically reconnect after 30 seconds or so, yet the server version remains the same.

To update, I must log in to server, stop MC, npm install meshcentral, and restart MC.

I am obviously doing it wrong.

Thank you for the quick replies.

The attachments aren't large, mostly around 100KB, some a few MB.

These files are located on user's Desktop. (Sometimes the given file will attach, other times the same file causes a crash)

No attachment problems using my Gmail both on their PC as well as my PCs.

    • Adding Attachment to Gmail Web Client Crashes Browser

I have a client trying to send attachments from the Gmail web access. When the window to select files opens, sometimes she can attach a file, however most times it crashes the browser. This occurs in both Firefox and Chrome (default browser); it occurs with all file types (both sometimes attaching and usually crashing).

Windows Updates are current as are both browsers.

Is there some setting I should be looking for? For what it's worth, this crashing business does not occur on my Gmail accounts.

    • RE: Comparing MeshCentral 2 to ScreenConnect

When connected to a Windows or Linux computer (have not tried on Mac) and the machine's public IP address changes I can no longer connect to desktop, terminal, files, etc. however the machine still shows up on MC as powered on, so there is some connection, yes?
How do we handle this if a remote machine has its IP address change? Such as a laptop going to a different location, or in my testing, changing address with a VPN.

When using the Desktop function, hitting spacebar activates the All displays, Display 1, Display 2 drop-down menu. Can this be disabled?

Maybe I should not have read too far into moons and the nodes orbiting them...

      I am connected.

Any reason to change any defaults?

It matter if I setup my user and his dad on this network, or it make sense to create their own?

      Thank you all.

Well, I barely understand Zero Tier, so I am not going to be attempting to explain it much less run it at a guy's home office and have his 75+ year old dad use it.

      Stationary.

Dad would like to simply access the desktop in son's office from his home.

    • Best way to provide remote access for home office?

I have a client whose dad helps him with the books in his home office once a week. They would like to set up remote access for the one day a week he does this so dad does not have to drive 2-3 hours.

Log Me In and TeamViewer seem a little pricey to them for something used a few hours once a week.

Are there any recommended similar remote access options that do not require replacing routers, static IPs and the like?

      Thanks.
