RE: Just in Time for the Holidays the BeagleBoard X15posted in News
@DustinB3403 said:
The BeagleBoard-X15 is the first BeagleBoard.org SBC to fully support Android, which will be offered along with Debian and Ubuntu images. The SBC is said to support applications including, robotics, media centers, interactive art, machine vision, home security and industrial automation. BeagleBoard.org also notes that the PRU subsystem βprovides the ability to create software-defined peripherals and extreme low-latency response to events such as sensing and responding to wind gusts around a quad-copter.β
No mention of firewall capabilities. But it includes Debian and Ubuntu, also while being able to run Android.
A few mentioned potential uses are for media centers. XBMC comes to mind.
Yeah, but you can run XBMC / Kodi on a friggin Roku stick... why pay $249 for that?

@scottalanmiller Why not just put beer straight in the coffee? No need to switch then.

Rum goes in your coffee, beer in there would taste terrible.
I think you have that reversed. Coffee goes into the rum.
Potato, potato. Just make sure it is a nice, dark, aged rum.
Everything is Flor de Cana here. Doesn't get much better. We can get 18year "legal" single plantation rum here for just over a grand in Cordoba (so about $50 USD.)
Flor de Cana is the ish. I can't find the 18 yr here.... wanna send me a case?

Had a win 7 installation refusing to go on the owner's personal (old) laptop, it was giving a CD/DVD driver error... I finally realized that the USB installer was plugged into the singular USB 3.0 port (would have been bleeding edge on this 5 yr old Inspiron).... swapped the thumb drive and the mouse.... installation success, mouse won't work at all. Damn blue USB ports.

Trying to wrap my head around 3-phase power... I thought I understood it a few weeks ago but apparently not.
All I understand about it is that I'm strictly low voltage and we hire a guy to install 3-phase stuff.

RE: Where to find "best practice" for any given IT scenarioposted in Water Closet
You also have to watch out (especially on SW) for discussions started as "what are best practices for ____", when what they actually mean is "please walk me through literally every step of how to _______ , and please dumb it way the hell down for me". But that is where critical thinking skills come in...

The article headline also says:
"but the real bad news is a breaking change in legacy driver support"That expensive audio interface you bought a few years ago? May not run on El Capitan.
So for studios, video production and other areas, this could be a crippling blow to Apple's creative segment.
Yeah, sorry... I'll never cry for someone who laid out big bucks for some proprietary interface when there are (and always have been) cross platform choices that are better, even though they aren't "pro tool certified". Cry me an overpriced, proprietary river.
