RE: SIP with or without Border Gateway
QoS is the main (only) advantage of the non-Internet option. It's a question of which is more important to you - guaranteed quality or reliability, cost and flexibility.
Traditional phones and cell phones have unreliable quality. VoIP over the Internet is often as good or better.
Your line quality is a major factor.

This quote is interesting: "In fact, Cloudera co-founder Mike Olson has declared, “No dominant platform-level software infrastructure has emerged in the last 10 years in closed-source, proprietary form.”
Repeat:** None**."

High CPU Utilization for PostgreSQL Postmaster Process on Unitrends UEB
I was looking at the SAR report on my UEB box and noticed that continuously, all day long, the Postmaster process is using a tremendous amount of CPU. Is this normal? Is there something that I should do to adjust this?
Here is the output from top, these are the top three values:
31631 postgres 25 0 1415m 276m 30m R 100.0 2.3 1:10.26 postmaster 31732 postgres 15 0 1165m 10m 9264 R 69.9 0.1 0:02.10 postmaster 31734 postgres 19 0 1331m 498m 332m R 58.2 4.1 0:01.75 postmaster
Those seem like extremely high values.

Ya, 8 weeks for a help desk position to help Frank who can't get this POS to turn on.
That's a really long time to have hired someone before you have any idea if they are going to be able to do the job. That is a ton of training for an entry level position.

Could Ubuntu be the Fatal Blow to Windows in China?
Softpedia discusses Windows in China and China's desire to replace it with Linux. Of course, China has tried this in the past and has failed. Anyone remember Red Flag Linux? But that China is still trying to do this says something. Windows is definitely struggling with the third world markets and that is not going to change anytime soon unless Microsoft makes their OS free and finds a way to assure other markets that it is not encumbered with NSA backdoors and the like.
China is working with Canonical to make Ubuntu Kylin to address the Chinese market.

GNU DDRescue for Recovering a Crashed Partition
This is a new tool that I was not aware of existing previously. DDRescue can help to recover a failed partition or drive. It does a block by block copy and it does not fail just because a sector cannot be read.
Link includes instructions on using the utility.

RE: Can anyone recommend a job for me?
At seventeen computer jobs are tough to get but possible. Are you looking to pay some bills or to get a career underway? Doing some intern or volunteer work can get you a long way very quickly if you are able to get it.

RE: Server 'type' 1u vs 2u
@Dashrender since the vendor should have little to no way to identify an OS installation as being virtual or physical, it works out well. Don't ask, don't tell.
