Seems like Monday will be a good day to call in sick... I just found out we're going to have somewhere between 200 and 250 tickets created by HR over the weekend...

Over a weekend? Is this a 24/7 place that HR would be working weekends anyway, or special circumstance?

I'm sensing a mass hire event.

    • Looking for firmware

Looking for firmware for a 12Gbps SAS HBA PCI card that goes into a Dell PowerEdge R640 server running VMware ESXi 6.7. This is the one thing that is keeping me from attaching the host to the storage. I have attempted to update all of the firmware through the iDRAC and the Lifecycle controller and have no luck with either option. I have downloaded the Linux-bootable ISO that would update firmwares of the host, but didn't update that one.

The PCI card was make by LSI Logics/Broadcom. Anybody have anything?

It does support @ sign notation. If you are mentioning somebody in the body of an email, you can use the @ and put their name which will give you a drop down. This works in Outlook 2016, but not sure about OWA.

    • RE: Looking for firmware

Well, updated the firmware of the storage card and still failed to see the datastore. Next thought is that the firmware of the controllers on the datastore are so out of date that nothing newer will work with it. Looks like I am on the latest version of ESXi that will work with this datastore.

So now the plan is to roll back the one host back to the same version of ESXi as the other 2 hosts so that it can see the datastore again and bring it back into production. We are planning on replacing the datastore next year to continue staying up to date.

@dustinb3403 said in Non-IT News Thread:

All because for the benefits of being better than ones self by needing church to know not to steal from thy neighbor, or to not covet they neighbors wife, to not murder.

I get it some things needed to be taught, but don't put your blinders on in today's life and expect others to see the church as anything other than a business, built on religion.

If that is the way that you see it, then that is how you see it. You've made your decision and I have made mine. If you want to cast judgement on today's church because of the past church, then I think you are making an unjust assumption.

Do they ask for tithe? Yes. It costs money to keep the building open, keep the lights on, and pay the ministers their salaries. Like Jeremy said earlier, most pastors are not rich. Even those in small churches works a job outside of the church to pay their personal bills while still volunteer ministering at their church.

If you think I have blinders on, then you are sorely mistaken. I see what is going on in our country and I don't like one bit of it. People are at each others throats over everything. Is there any thing that I can do about that? No, except for Pray for them. That is all that I can do.

I am not examining history. I'm looking at the church now. Again, are we perfect? Not by a long shot. Are there hypocrites in the church? Absolutely, everywhere. But, I'd rather go to church with a hypocrite than to hell with one.

Is a Windows box available? Install Veeam's O365v2 backup to a repository. Free for up to 10 users and you will get everything, mailbox and SharePoint. Set it up for the customer and it doesn't give them very many options to mess up.

@scottalanmiller Unfortunately, there is no "User interface" apart from the admin interface, but there is not a lot to the program except for having a local repo, connecting O365, selecting the user along with a couple of other requirements and hitting start.

    • Windows 10 Pro 1803 creates new virtual adapter daily

I run Hyper-V on my laptop to run some small VMs for self-training. Everyday I shutdown my computer. The next day, I'll have one more virtual adapter created than I did the day before.

      0_1537455332756_virtual adapters.PNG

      1. How do I make this stop?
      2. How do I get rid of most of these except for 1?

I have checked with Hyper-V manager and Virtual Switch Manager and nothing shows more than 1 virtual adapter or more than 1 virtual switch.

    • Troubles installing PowerCLI

I was having troubles installing PowerCLI last week. Normally, you would install PowerCLI by:

      1. Adding the PowerShell Galary as a repository (unless you have already done this).
      2. Run "Install-Module VMware.PowerCLI";
      3. Set your execution policy to RemoteSigned (unless you have already done this).

However, Microsoft and their infinite wisdom decided to name their commands the same thing. When PowerShell goes to bring in the commands, it skips over commands that it already has in its module libraries. In order to get around this problem, you have to add on the AllowClobber parameter.

So, line 2 should read "Install-Module VMware.PowerCLI -AllowClobber" before you are able to connect to either a vSphere or a vCenter server.

I might actually get one of these and ask my ISP if its usable for my connection, would be nice to know at a glance.

Your isp would have to purchase and deploy.

The most expensive part about this whole enterprise would be laying the fiber plant, plus the fear of the dozer.

Absolutely not. That is asking too much of IT. I don't know what outside pressures force them to perform such task in such a way. Their respective departments should have procedures properly documented and stored somewhere, whether they are on the network or not.
