Seems like a good time to try convincing the boss we should move our emails to O365. I know he'll say no, but this is ammo for sure.

I don't think that email only justify cost of O365.
I have excellent mail experience with different web hosting providers that provide email service included for a fraction of price of O365.

For example, Hetzner offers 300GB space with unlimited mail accounts for 17 EUR / cca. 20 USD a month.
(I have not used Hetzner's mail services but I have very good experinece with them in cloud/bare metal services)

Agreed. We already have O365, but I've been instructed to keep Exchange On-Prem exclusively. Sorry that wasn't implied more clearly.

If it is making a bad calls that are similar to logins, that would do it. Fail2Ban (or similar) look for errors from an IP address. So a single IP gets affected.

I ended up using this approach. As usual, it took a bit of reading and research along with poking at the server, but I was able to use this approach.

Oh yeah. It was a "oh today is going to be fun" moment. Initially I thought, because I had recently migrated to Serve 2019 for my print server, that I had messed something up. Just a coincidence though. One might argue that since I was using v3 drivers, I did in fact mess something up, but I remember having issue with them previously, and took to Xerox Tech Support to ensure I was using the drivers they recommend for the new build. Not to mention, some manufacturers don't even supply V4 drivers yet, and some OS's don't like em, from what I'm reading.

With the MS Aug Update, two of my v3 drivers no longer work on 2019. Been working on finding an updated driver that will work. A few v4 have issues, then there are a few v3/v4 drivers (using Windows Update for MS Digitally signed drivers only) that won't install because it keeps telling me access denied.

Setup a Windows 2016 server print server to test, all updates and all is fine so these issues are related to Windows 2019 as far as I can tell.

Also to make @scottalanmiller haooy change the title away from Build a pc. Since you only mean setup windows.

Ah. I see the disconnect here. I was really wondering why you would assume OS setup wasn't part of the job, but seeing now that I must've titled with the word "build" which threw you off a bit. That's on me. To be fair though, the computer has probably been gutted, so maybe build would apply? At any rate, that's on me.

@scottalanmiller It's a different VLAN. As there are two AP's on this VLAN, I've confirmed that at least the few other clients that I tried with Wireless NIC's on these two AP's work with this setup.

Going to try to dive in today unless something pressing comes up. Gotta make time to learn.

OK - I'm guessing that the VLANs are playing into this somehow. They are preventing your client from getting a DHCP request would be my guess.
I know you said you have two other devices connected to same network - but are they using the same AP?

How about a complete reset of all network settings and wifi settings - i.e. forget all WiFi networks and start over...

But It might come down to having the users added either via script or manually to that group you want and then applying the permissions. However Microsoft Exchange has been cumbersome to apply permissions by groups. I would recommend to do it by user instead.

Yea it does sound like that might end up being the case. I'll poke at it some more, as I'm not quite ready to give up on it. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the info and views of PHP. It is nice to hear some positives about PHP as I mostly read about the security issues surrounding the multiple versions of PHP.

Like everything, PHP has had some security issues.
But most likely most of what you are reading comes down to stupid people not patching or stupid “developers” do copy pasta of code thy was poorly done in the first place.

I agree! It was not even worth the effort to even look it up.

The "real" solution is to convert into SDI, which is the professional version of HDMI. Think TV station, broadcast cameras and other professional gear.

It uses coax so it's easy to install and put on connectors for whatever length you need. It can handle up to 300ft without any signal degradation. And there are converters for HDMI to SDI and back.

So if the application involves something related to live streaming, video recordings etc you might want to look into SDI. If you're just putting a TV somewhere far away, well then it doesn't matter.

We have used Sophos Phish and TrendMicro but reporting and the actual templates lack a lot of what Knowbe4 does already. Knowbe4 also has extensive documentation on how to integrate with various email systems and SSO.

You can also educate the users and create a reporting for those emails either via a Plugin or manually forwarding to a dedicated email account. You would also think about separating permissions and tasks from users. So you would have an admin account that is not your every day user login on the computer and so forth.
