You can do this yourself with any sip trunk and hardware to convert to PRI. We use AdTran TOTAL Access 900e series for this as do some carriers.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
PTO starting at 5:30. And the nice thing is I DO NOT have to take my laptop home, or check email, or worry about something breaking, or all that jazz for a week!

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Last day of PTO during which my phone ding'd twice for work things, both of which were more HR questions than IT questions but were taken care of. Boss called me today said there will be extra in my check for handling those while on PTO.

RE: Setting up FreePBX 13 - Host Choice
DID's lead to lots of problems ESPECIALLY when changing providers. My current company we are trying to reduce DID's because we have over a thousand, based on a lot of legacy systems and ports that were done just blindly rather than surgically. Trying to port those 1000 current DID's to a new provider is a nightmare to say the least!
The trunk to employees rule, the term I've heard is "call path". Specifically you want 1 call path for each call. You need to calculate that based on employees as well as conference calls. I do not have an hard/fast rule but you need to check with your SIP trunk provider as to the number of call paths allowed. then check again, then check a third time! I've already been burned but that carrier everyone loves to hate because they sold us supposedly 100 call paths on the trunk and it turns out they never turned on the feature (default is 25, first big conference we had with outside users many could not connect).

RE: Non-IT News Thread
Pretty much get my US news from BBC and CBC, I don't watch local news any more. Drives my wife nuts that I insisted on putting an antenna up just to get the Canadian TV stations to watch their national news every night.

RE: High Speed Internet Options in Utica, New York
Old thread but...We just closed our Utica office, we had a 35 down 5 up cable modem from Time Warner and experienced no issues; and in fact when I called to cancel the service they offered a free upgrade to 50 down 5 up . Was going to take it but why upgrade the speed when there's NO OFFICE??

RE: Would You Hire Someone in IT Who Does Not Have a Home Lab
Speaking of lab stuff: After my boss gets back next week, I will probably have a couple big (and very very heavy) Dell 2900 towers to get rid of. They were former lab systems for us. I know one has 16GB ram in it, no idea what the other one has, either 160 or 250GB drives and PERC raid card (might be real raid cards not sure) if anyone is interested let me know otherwise probably off to the scrap heap. note these are VERY HEAVY TOWERS so would be local pickup in Buffalo NY not going to ship. Again have to check with the boss first to make sure its OK (company gets really weird about giving stuff away for some reason). Just want to put it out there
