RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
New job has me swamped. Going to get rid of Active Directory as one of the dc suffered a failure this week and executive management said "been meaning to do that for a while. You take the the project. What licenses do you need". No questions, not push back, just OK get it done. Good to work in a company where pretty much everyone is at least somewhat technical.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@JaredBusch good point. In this case It's a "swap" of responsibilities; one thing I do internally is going to another employee, so no increase in salary, but (unlike last job) major responsibility removed from my plate prior to something new added.

RE: Thank you!
TO the presenters and organizers good luck! And to everyone else, have fun! Wish I could join but family matters and pre-scheduled events will prevent me from making the hour long drive. Hopefully next year!

Asterisk PBX so many choices, where to begin?
So while on vacation I will have some time to start "playing" with Asterisk based PBX options, more for my own education than anything. Being a linux Noob (thanks @scottalanmiller for your excellent education series, saved my butt a couple times) and coming from Lync/Skype4Business, I'm looking for the "best" direction of PBX software to broaden my horizons. Install will be a local VM on my test server@home with 2 or 3 Polycom Soundpoint IP hard phones and whatever softphone I can get to work. What dist would be a good starting point? I found a old thread comparing Elastix to FreePBX (https://mangolassi.it/topic/5151/elastix-or-freepbx-and-why) but definitely dated as Elastix 4 is out. I have also found things like Xvio/IncrediblePBX (care of the Nerd Vittles website). I am leaning towards FreePBX as that seems to be what everyone is running for production systems. Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance for replying!

RE: XenServer passing 9-Pin serial to specific VM
Thats the beauty of serial to IP, so long as the server can get to the IP of the serial adapter who cares which host its on (when serial to IP WORKS of course)

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Don't get me stated on cell availability around here (Western NY). Buffalo/Rochester area is the worst, regardless of carrier or technology. 4G? I'm lucky if I can get CDMA 1X in my building, and I"m only a mile from a tower! Now, in the "boonies" I would expect that but not in a relative major suburban area. I've literally gone up into less populated areas of New England or the middle of Pennsylvania expecting little to no service, and get not just 4G, but full on XLTE with measured 20 Mbit down!
