@scottalanmiller Awesoem. I must say, the earlier beta's were quite messy compared to earlier releases, but it stabilized around the last beta and the RC's were ok. Haven't seen any big breakage either with final, so it worked out!

Nextcloud Hub 22 is here 🎂
Hi all!
Been a while...
I wanted to share that we published NC Hub 22, with lots of good stuff.
The biggest improvements Nextcloud Hub 22 introduces are:
- User-defined groups with Circles that makes it easier to manage teams where you can share files or assign tasks to circles, or create chat rooms for a circle
- Integrated knowledge management Nextcloud puts knowledge available to everyone at a moments' notice, providing easy search, sharing, and portable access
- ️ Integrated chat and task management where you can simply share a deck card into a chat room or turn a chat message into a task
- Easy approval workflow, where an administrator can define a new approval flow in the settings and users can, on a document, request approval
- Getting your document signatures easy with integrated PDF signing with DocuSign, EIDEasy, and LibreSign
- Groupware improvements bringing a trash bin feature in Calendar, resource booking to facilitate the handling of resources in organizations. Nextcloud Mail features improved threading, email tagging, and support for Sieve filtering
There are many more new features and changes like notifications in the app navigation, integrated compression in the Files interface, and significant performance improvements to universal search.
Nextcloud Hub 22 is optimized for the modern, digital office. Get ready for the New Work with us!
We did a launch video, with screencasts and other stuff. Watch it on YT, with a live Q&A afterward. Well, that Q&A is no longer live, but you know, it was at some point live...

I have always assumed that means there are some, likely, fringe issues that are just common enough that they don't want to mark it stable yet for the upgrades.
That is exactly right

RE: Unable to get redis cache running on debian 10 based Nextcloud instance
Honestly it can be quite a PITA. A solution might be to kind'a start from scratch and follow the how-to from techrepublic - I helped Jack write that, we had also permission errors. The group thing was a big part of the solution. Note you need to restart stuff after changing groups etc, maybe a horrible reboot can help.
And yeah, I was looking here. I don't see any obvious issues...

RE: Researching Mailing List Email Server Options
Be sure to look at PHPList, just for newsletters it's perfectly fine! We use it for quite a while already. I'm afraid development isn't super fast lately, but it's open source and does the trick.

It's been a while...
Hey lot,
It's been a while since I posted, sorry for that! Yes yes, lots happening in #Nextcloud - always you know, you know. I'm sure you can find our news page if you want to catch up. Running Nextcloud 17 yet? Whaddayathink?
I know a lot of you have been looking for online office integration in Nextcloud and I thought I'd point to a webinar we're doing with ONLYOFFICE on November the 20th
Also, we'll be at FOSDEM again, of course. And if any of you are ever in Berlin - we've got an office, sharing it with friends from Wikimedia (you might know this low-traffic website they run). Seriously, ring the bell - any time. Tempelhofer Ufer 23-24. I've got stickers, t-shirts, Club Mate, hugs and conversation ready for anyone willing to walk in.
Also, I'll try not to be such a stranger anymore!

I honestly am curious why more software houses don't ask us to beta for them. . . Any time I make changes to my public GH I ask people here to test to make sure I'm not the only one seeing it "work".
We announce and ask for help in testing every beta and release candidate. For anyone who finds upgrade bugs in the last beta or any of the RC's we even offer a t-shirt

RE: Who is Eating Mangoes?
Love Mangoes. If you take a green one, slice & dice it, mix in pressed garlic, olive oil, lemon juice & bunch of mashed avocado (like, guacamole without the onion & tomatoes) you get something WONDERFUL. Try it, you'll be amazed

Mine still shows 13.0.6 as current
Me too.
Switch to the beta channel, switch back after upgrading
We roll out incrementally.
Seems some caching is biting some ppl, showing apps as not available while they are... going to app mgmt and disabling/enabling them fixes it. We have some other weird issues, seems like I should have asked here for you all to help test the RC's so we had a more stable end result

Update: Nextcloud 2 years, 13.0.3, Talk-with-Chat & conf
It's been a while since I posted, but the last week has been a bit crazy in the Nextcloud world so I thought it'd be nice to share an overview:
- There is a new iOS client with Files integration, just in time for WWDC
- Nextcloud is 2 years old, happy birthday
- The Nextcloud Conference 2018 call for papers is open
- Nextcloud Talk introduces chat on the mobile platforms
- Nextcloud 13.0.3 is out with GDPR tools
And yes, since I last posted we signed the German Federal Government as customer and many cities in europe including the capital of Switzerland, we released Nextcloud Talk 3.2, collaborated with the Turris modular router project to create a Nextcloud Box successor, released a GDPR compliance kit and crazy much more.
Thank you all for being a part of this! We would not have made it through two such great years without the support of our amazing community.
I'd love to meet you all at our upcoming conference! Consider joining!
Berlin is great, I can tell you that - as a Berliner

Some shameless promotion...
Win an iPhone 7 and help Nextcloud by voting at Storage Insider for your favorite private cloud! http://www.storage-insider.de/award/
Yes, of course, I shouldn't ask perhaps. But hey, it'd be nice to win that award and if one of you wins an iPhone it's double win as far as I am concerned
Thanks!!

Nextcloud Conference was fun, anyone here joined?
We had over 150 people at the Nextcloud conf
I wrote a blog about the event. One piece of news from the conference you might like: our iOS app is now fully free, not only in terms of freedom but also costs.
Friday was our enterprise day, you can watch the talks about things like our Red Hat partnership, the 22K user TU Berlin migration, security, scalability and online office improvements and our outlook integration on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PL4eBKdNy6FCHkFwlhUr6JORClr0-bUapV&v=NCo23LS3Yj4
In the weekend we had keynotes each morning (Tristan Nitot, co-founder of Mozilla Europe Saturday, Sunday Moodle founder Martin Dougiamas) followed by a dozen+ lightning talks and workshops in the afternoon.
Maybe see you next year then? The dates are already fixed: August 23-30!

Nextcloud updates - incl free version of Outlook integration!
Hi all!
Just wanted to give a quick news update over the last month - there's been a lot of big news. If you want to have these updates by mail, consider subscribing to our newsletter
The biggest thing is probably that there is now a free version of our Secure Sharing Outlook Add-in for home and small business users.
Second, we're getting close to the Nextcloud Conference and if you haven't booked yet - DO SO! I blogged about it, we announced the Friday program for businesses and the Saturday Keynote speaker, co-founder of Mozilla & privacy/cloud guy Tristan Nitot.
There were some app updates: Group folders app and Circles but also iOS and lots of other apps; and we blogged about our relase channels.
Oh and the capital of Albania and the TU Berlin moved to Nextcloud, with the TU having some nice performance statistics there - almost 50% lower database load by migrating to Nextcloud!
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more soon. See you at the conference?
-
Care about privacy, security and think selfhosting helps?
Then consider joining the Nextcloud Conference in Berlin later this month

RE: Why Free Open Source Software Is Cheaper Than You Think
I'm a long time Linux advocate - heck, I volunteered in the KDE desktop community for over a decade and was community manager for openSUSE so you can't claim I have no horse in the game
But, honestly. Linux desktops are great for sysadmins and ppl who, like me, live in the browser and their mail client. Marketing folks, thus
But a designer or people who MUST use Microsoft office - I concede they're more productive with a WIndows or Mac, provided some expert (who probably runs Linux themselves) maintain and secure it and clean up the shit when it inevitably goes wrong...

@john-nicholson said in Why Free Open Source Software Is Cheaper Than You Think:
The only issue I have is Outlook crashes one a day, Skype 4 Buisness is unusable (but that's true on Windows) and Onedrive is a giant turd.
Now there are three reasons to install Nextcloud
Our Outlook add-in can help Outlook crash more, you can dump Skype and OneDrive and use the Nextcloud Video Calls and file handling. Kidding about the first one
