It's been a while...

Hey lot,
It's been a while since I posted, sorry for that! Yes yes, lots happening in #Nextcloud - always you know, you know. I'm sure you can find our news page if you want to catch up. Running Nextcloud 17 yet? Whaddayathink?
I know a lot of you have been looking for online office integration in Nextcloud and I thought I'd point to a webinar we're doing with ONLYOFFICE on November the 20th
Also, we'll be at FOSDEM again, of course. And if any of you are ever in Berlin - we've got an office, sharing it with friends from Wikimedia (you might know this low-traffic website they run). Seriously, ring the bell - any time. Tempelhofer Ufer 23-24. I've got stickers, t-shirts, Club Mate, hugs and conversation ready for anyone willing to walk in.
Also, I'll try not to be such a stranger anymore!

Having lots of issues with fulltextsearch/elasticsearch/OCR. So much bad documentation on this.
Also Redis.

Is 17 still in beta? I'm running 16.06 on the Stable channel and the upgrade hasn't shown up as available yet.

17.0.1 is certinaly not "beta" it is the primary download for new installs.
There has been multiple occasions where the stable channel has not gotten the new version for an extended period of time.
I have always assumed that means there are some, likely, fringe issues that are just common enough that they don't want to mark it stable yet for the upgrades.

Or ever, it seems.

We moved to Beta to get the "current" releases. I can't follow what is supposed to be current or beta anymore, because beta only seems to get what has been publicly announced as released and released seems to never get it.

Upgrading manually is an option. Especially if your data folder is located outside the nextcloud folder.

That is exactly right
