    • VOIP Vs VPN

Hi guys, i'm new in this forum
i have a question about VOIP,
let's have a look in my current situation, i have 2 location : main office and branch office connected together with site to site VPN, in the main office i have small network 25 computers (soft phones) and one IP PBX,
in the branch office i have 8 computers (soft phones)
the IP PBX in the main office is connected via ISDN connectivity (E1 10 channel)
the computers in the branch were registered successfully in the IP PBX (which is located in the main)
when i call an extension from the main to the branch or from the branch to the main i can hear the dial tone and the call is established but the problem is after the call was established i cannot hear anything in both sides and after a short time the call end automatically
IP PBX : Ozeki Phone System XE
      VPN server : pfsense

i think it is time to try sophos UTM, because really this temporarily nature of this problem broke my trust toward pfSense, and what annoy me more i cannot find any explanation for this problem,
because the problem itself is not annoying but when you can't figure out the cause of the problem, that time you hate yourself. hhhh

in the future we can think about hosting our data (files) in the cloud, but what about Application server, this is the problem we cannot install our application in an outside server in the cloud,

      For legal reasons?

honestly i don't know, but i think that the IT company that sold us this application will not accept to install it in an hosted server as far as i can see

Then you don't tell them, silly. 🙂

I can tell you that using a hosted server would solve your issue pretty well. It would give you a point to relay both offices off of to bridge the networks together. Our company also gives you the option of naming your server whatever you want. So match it to your naming convention within your current environment, use it as your VPN/Application server, and have the company install it as if it was within your own environment. Most of these kinds of things, the guys installing it are complete and utter morons, they will never figure it out.

Or, if push comes to shove, just use a P2V utility like Vmware Converter on your current install, be it physical or virtual, spin up a cloud server and upload the image to it. No muss, no fuss.

hhh, i understand almost 50% of what you have said, i think that you used deep slang american language,

you can ping 4.2.2.2 and also www.google.com but you can't access internet with your browser, this mean that you have a proxy server in your network that is not in transparent mode, you should configure your browser to use the proxy setting

      @scottalanmiller said:

ESXi Free is completely free. Many SMBs use just the free version. However, you really should never use the free version, or hardly ever. The value to VMware's product is completely in its expensive, non-free versions.

Why are you looking to learn VMware instead of HyperV or XenServer which are both completely free for all versions and far more appropriate for an SMB and nearly any company implementing a new virtualization program today.

Make sure you read this: Is VMware Done in the SMB?

thank you very much for your suggestio, i will have a look on these technologies as well

Lots of people call it an OS, but it is not an OS. What you are describing is a hypervisor.

lol, i saw your long debate in spicework with the other guy about "hypervisor VS OS"
