RE: Cooking Gear
@RojoLoco if used indoors you'd for sure want to use it under a vent hood. we have one that pops up from the counter top that's pretty neat.

RE: Jobless Day After Resignation
I quit jobless when I decided to go into business for myself. Spent 3 or so months with no to very little incoming doll hairs.

RE: Virtualization Redemption?
Network is a VPLS between sites so yeah, networking side isn't tough. technically it's all "LAN" to the hosts.

RE: Cooking Gear
yes. the previous owners of this house replaced their gas unit with an electric flat top....stupid. when a few stars line up we will be replacing this unit with gas.

RE: Virtualization Redemption?
considering we were willing to lose a day of data to our DR site.... this will replicate much more often, so this is already better than what i've been thinking.

RE: Virtualization Redemption?
I only underbought when trying to run all workloads on a single server. The role of the new DR server wasn't always DR. Our other servers are perfectly happy with extra space
Not going the starwind route, doesn't make sense for me as the DR site will in essence be providing me with the same (technically moreish) protection from failure. both site, and vm, or physical host failure on main site. if i wanted to buy 6 more drives, i could starwind it out and have uber ultra super safe mega secure situation.... just dont think they want to spend that right now. maybe a next year project expansion

RE: Best Smart Thermostat
I love my nest.... the auto-schedule auto home/away situation is nice. not sure if we save money or not.... I like having an app for my thermostat and also to know that if i leave the air on when i leave, it will detect that and shut her down eventually.

RE: Best Smart Thermostat
we have it on our downstairs unit. 2700 sq.ft house. I think it's a 5or6 ton unit. living room has 20' ceilings, it's in a small "hallway" under the stairs, to the right is a bathroom, left is storage under stairs. keeps downstairs pretty consistent through rooms. It would be nice if there were little room units you could plug into say an outlet that would register that rooms temp/humidity/etc. I think one of the smart thermostat companies do that already.

RE: Virtualization Redemption?
How would starwind help here? if it's useful, i'm down. i just dont know enough about it to on a whim whip it up in a production environment.
