RE: Going Back to Staples?
and you've also got to learn how to handle stuff on your own. There are many MSPs, ITSPs, whateverSPs around here that more than likely would never consider picking you up because of how PUBLIC you are with EVERYTHING going on. Scott is your mentor apparently, you should have had this conversation with him on the phone, via text, or email. IMO

Virtualization Redemption?
I've made a bit of a mess.....Hoping you guys can help me out.
Clent wanted their EMR vendor to spec out their server builds and it's backed me into a tight spot as they misled us to their DR capability. ESXI free.... dumb i know Server 2008 R2
Currently i have 3 identical r620's.
2.18 TB (raid 10)
64 GB of ram
and 24 logical processorsThey wanted Host 1 to contain DC and SQL and we've got 970 GB free on this host
Host 2 Contains ERX and SRS and has 1.2 tb free
Host 3 has a secondary dc and what was supposed to be their cache/emergency access server that would contain the previous days data in case of total failure at primary site.
Host 3 really has no true use after going through the install.
My ultimate goal is to move host 3 to a datacenter and i need to replicate SQL, SRS, and ERX to that server, i'll also have a tiny DC running on the host. Anyway, what would you guys do in this spot?

How do you bill for time spent Researching and Project Management?
I've been approached by a company that has a knock down list of 5 software packages they're looking at to purchase. They have realized this is not something they want to undertake alone. How would you guys bill to research the software offerings, create some data for them to look at, make recommendations on the IT side etc.
How do you bill for research?
How do you bill for Project Management?
How do you propose said opportunities?

RE: Virtualization Redemption?
using the hyper v replication, how do the VMs behave? they're offline, replicating, then boom, tree crashes through building and smokes our server rack. i just remote into the DR server and spin em up?

- Pressure Cooker!!! got a tough cut of meat or need to cook something quick but awesome? pressure cooker
- Outdoor Kitchen....yeah, we've got a pretty sweet fryer, a two burner "stove", and a grill and sink, makes fish/seafood, chicken wings, etc much nicer than having to fry inside.

RE: Virtualization Redemption?
yes, i said above i'm adding 2 600gb drives and switching from raid 10 to 6. it's a lot to read, but i respect that. each server has more than enough processing power to handle all jobs, just unnderbought storage.

You want a reason against buying refurbished servers from xbyte? i've got one....
Because you hate having all that money, and you want to spend it on something!
that being said i have about 7 or 8 xbyte servers in the wild and LOVE THEM. service is much better than dell, @BradfromxByte is just a swell dude to work with.

How to make your retail web store successful
Do we have any web guru's round here? My father in law has a brick and mortar retail store that does very well and has for 30+ years now. 3-4 years ago he popped up a website in hopes of spreading his success to the web realm to no avail. He's got an in house marketing/graphic/site maintainer guy, but he is not driving much new traffic to the site, and since his main job is site maintenance etc.... it's hard to pay him full time (IMO). I like my father in law, his store is great, his site is okay, i like the fella who is taking care of their marketing, photography, commercials, etc and i want the site to succeed. what to do?
check it out. buy some expensive clothes
