    • Supervised Transfer in Elastix doesn't keep Caller ID

When a supervised transfer is made in Elastix with FOP2, the caller ID on the receiver of the transfer points out the receptionists caller ID. Does anyone have any experience with using this in FOP2 or in elastix in general that might be able to provide some experience with it? Trying to get a feel for how Elastix handles this sort of thing.

      Thanks!

    • RE: How much multitasking is too much?

Right now, I run three displays across two computers. I use one for email, center is main, and left is generally communication. But there are times that I could really use more screen real estate. Communications, email, research, active project, music management, and static data monitoring. As scott said, the process of switching things around on what you have can easily break your focus on what you are doing. I personally could actually see making a six display setup function to it's full capacity and keep me flowing at about max efficiency on a heavy project.

Or, when things are going fast, I could see using it for multiple projects. For example, if I'm watching two helpdesks, researching problems on project A while making progress on project B. As Scott said, technically it is still context switching, but that is the way I see working on multiple things.

Still trying to get used to it myself. The reply text is really hard to see, but otherwise I like it.

    • RE: About Time EA! Sim City 5 Now Has Offline Mode!

@scottalanmiller In my defense, I think a lot of the reason I'm getting such a desktop is because There's plans of management to install a chain and shackle at the bottom of my desk when I least expect it and just hope that I'm alright with that because of my shiny new toy.

I saw a value in it for myself, but only if they could be fixed. If they are turned off, that's fine by me lol

@Hubtech Who are you registering your trunks with and what settings are you using in your outgoing side? I might be able to provide some insight on that. I've been dealing with Elastix trunk settings very recently to the point where my head hurts lol

    • RE: Documentation- The Never Ending Game

@scottalanmiller I believe that depends on the area of work you do. L1 helpdesk? Document everything in my opinion. Honestly I got hired with more ambition than applicable experience, so it was mostly trial by fire for me.

    • RE: Learning iOS Programming..

I personally have avoided iOS so far. Maybe not entirely due to a distaste for it though. Maybe more because I have been financially challenged for the majority of my life and my tech career has centered around windows. I'm open to it, partially, just would be starting from scratch from an IT perspective. Plus for the fact that everything I support is Windows, I don't think it'd be feasible to use for a work machine.

Yup, all hooked to a laptop no less. He's an odd one 😉
Have you ever considered multiple PC's to go with the multiple monitors?

Not for my work setup. I do have three monitors on my desk, but the third one is for the PC that's 'in the shop' getting worked on. It's not there long enough normally to spend the time setting up something like Synergy.

Understandable. If you find yourself curious I know I can get a setup of Synergy down to like 2 minutes. Might save a little room on the desk. Pretty lightweight install and might make your life a bit easier.

Who has a count on the amount of countries we have now? @addie do you have something like this or something you can conjure up? Just curious.

    • Is the main screen supposed to scroll like this?

      Capture.PNG

Mind you that it is zoomed out, but is it supposed to do that or is it just me? I use Chrome.
If that is by design, it seems quite a bit odd, but something tells me it is supposed to display much differently

My commute is so short I hardly have time to listen to anything. One podcast lasts me the whole week 🙂 I'm only 2.5 miles from the office and it takes me 5 minutes.

My commute is a bit shorter. About four feet. If done lazily and correctly, I can actually make it to my office chair with only one step and a pivot!

@Katie Well I like them, but there should be a timer on them instead of just a static window that you have to close manually

    • Desktop Notifications.

I enjoy the desktop notifications, but sometimes they can be overwhelming. They don't go away on their own. I am glad they only stack three at a time, but if I step away for a bit my computer will laugh at me and just put another set of three where I closed out of the first couple. Is there any way to modify these so that They disappear after a while?

      I am using Chrome

Yes, it was. I was good friends with my H.S. counselor at the time lol

I'm still running full 7 in my home office and have not had to deal with GPO's. I hear that they can be pretty stingy little buggers.

Since when is the timing ever better? IT is trial by fire. You're fixing things before you've even learned them. Sounds like Standard Operating Procedure to me.

    • RE: How did you get started in IT?

In about the middle of junior year, I was starting to realize that I was a pretty smart person and started to get more involved in my school and such. I also happen to be cursed when it comes to technology( ask @ajstringham ) So things would break around me. After a while, considering I was broke, I started to learn to fix these things. Then, in senior year, teachers at the school started calling me out of classes to fix their tech. Then, a job was posted to the school for a part time tech and the counselor informed me immediately and let me submit my resume before she even posted it. Got the job the next day.

@Minion-Queen Synergy actually will work across mac, linux, and PC according to their website, for what it is worth.
